Some in Silicon Valley are even calling for a basic minimum income provided by the government for everyone, under the assumption that work will become scarce. But many economists are skeptical of these claims, because the notion that the the economy offers a fixed amount of work has been debunked time and time again over the centuries and current economic data show no signs of a productivity boom. Fortunately, we don't need to divine the future of the labor market in order to prepare for it. /// Vox.com is a news website that helps you cut through the noise and understand what's really driving the events in the headlines. FANUC Robots Used in Automated Wood Wrapping Machine -- Courtesy of PRE-TEC

03:09
Robotic Automation in the Wood Industry - http://www.fanucrobotics.com/robotics-articles/Industrial-Robots-Eliminate-Hazards-in-Wood-Industry.aspx Wood manufacturers are discovering that industrial robots are ideal for the hazardous work environments they encounter in the woodworking industry. In this application video, PRE-TEC has implemented an automated wood wrapping system in which four FANUC robots apply protective wrapping, end sealant, and label to I-Joist Beams or Stacked Laminated Veneer Lumber. This system can automatically apply protective wrapping for multiple length, width and height units on the fly by calculating the load dimensions. This system utilizes one FANUC M--710iC/70 robot, two M--16 iB/10L robots, and one M--20iA/10L robot to complete the process. The FANUC robots transfer each piece, accurately measure and stretch the wrapping to match the piece size, apply the sealant, and stack the wood for distribution. The beams are measured continuously on the carousel to be sure the correct size wrapping is loaded. The robots then wrap and staple the wood automatically. In this system, robots replaced an operation that presented stapling hazards as well as those that come with handling large pieces of engineered wood products. In addition to removing stapling and handling hazards, PRE-TEC says that this robotically automated process has made their system much more efficient. To learn more about this robotic wrap applicator system, please visit PRE-TEC's website at http://www.pre-tec.com.

10 REAL Robots That Stole People's Jobs

06:19
top 10 robotic machines that have stolen jobs from people Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg For copyright matters please contact us at: [email protected] Other Videos You Might Like 10 Mythical Creatures That Actually Existed! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4M3063KYYr4 10 Cute Kids Who Grew Up To Be Monsters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5y9OPpEKnY Description: Don’t look now, but the scary, dystopian themes of a futuristic robot takeover might be slowly playing out in front of our very eyes. As we grow increasingly reliant upon technology, automation and even robotics have taken on a more significant and present role in our everyday lives. Our phones recognize our voices and talk back to us, our cars can remember trips that we’ve previously taken and our computers customize information to better suit our needs. Automation has taken over for human employment in so many ways, as we order lunch from a touch screen, buy groceries at a self-checkout machine and do our banking at an ATM or online. Robotic technology in the workforce isn’t simply here to stay, but boasts a growing presence. Observers at the forefront of technological development have predicted that humans will end up using robots for a wider variety of tasks that will only grow in complexity as their capabilities continue to advance and their skill set expands to even include responsibilities that demand creativity and recognizing human emotions. If you’re thinking about robots in a Hollywood cinematic sense, think of this new reality as less of a Terminator-style doom and gloom scenario and more of a WALL-E type of gentle, opportunistic takeover. According to a 2015 report by the Bank of England, robotic machines are poised to take over 80 million American jobs and 15 million British jobs over the course of the next 10 to 20 years. That would represent 50% of the workforce in each of the two countries. Through this scenario, the Bank believes that administrative, clerical and production workers will be the first roles to be wiped out by the rise of automation as humans adapt their skills to fulfill duties that can’t yet be handled by robots. While the Industrial Revolution forced manual laborers to improve their skills to take on more sophisticated, complex jobs, this new era of mechanized development would see the robots use their advanced programming to just replace their human counterparts. While the report may seem dramatic and shocking, particularly given its two decade or less timetable, it becomes less so when you realize that we are already well into the predicted rise of the machine. In various sectors of employment, jobs are already being done effectively and efficiently by mechanisms possessing artificial intelligence. From multi-billion dollar corporations like Amazon to technology companies like iRobot to even the United Stated military, robotic technology is being looked to as an increasingly viable, cost-effective means of skilled labor as opposed to using a human workforce. It’s an amazing time that we currently live in, even if we don’t quite realize it yet. Over the past decade or two, technology has evolved at such a remarkable rate that we have come to expect regular new innovations and technological developments to hit the market in rapid succession. Now, we hardly bat an eye if confronted by, say, a prescription-filling robot pharmacist or even a Jeopardy-playing IBM computer named Watson. This might well already be a robot’s world, and we’re just living in it. The Age of Automation

06:50
Please donate to show your support! http://donate.theparadiseparadox.com Full notes: http://www.theparadiseparadox.com/category/articles/technology/the-age-of-automation iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/the-paradise-paradox/id952951514 Pocket Casts http://pcasts.in/feed/feeds.feedburner.com/TheParadiseParadox We are about to enter an age of unseen prosperity. For years we have been seeing the prices of high technology decrease incredibly rapidly – with an item reducing to a third of its price within a few short years – even to the extent that smartphones and tablets are available to many people, even in developing nations. We've already seen computers replace many jobs. Naturally, mechanical thinking tasks such as human computers were the first to go. Yet with the age of automation – the age of artificially intelligent robots – the same gains that have been realised in the technology sector are going to be realised in every other sector – either directly or indirectly. We are at a stage where machines cannot just aid manual labour, but replace it entirely. Let's imagine a case study. You might pay $30 for a new pair of jeans, or if you live in Australia you might pay $100. How did those jeans get on your legs? Which steps can be automated, and which steps can be removed entirely? Those jeans were probably made in a sweatshop in a cheaper country, by hand. They were driven by van to a shipping yard to be packaged and sent across the seas. They're unloaded at the dock, and transported by truck to a wholesale centre, then on to retail stores. At the mall, the labourers unload the jeans and carry them up to the store, where the shop attendant puts them on the shelves. You take a bus to the mall, and you're served by a fitter who gives you some tips on sizes and styles. That's how it happens today. Let's have a look at how it will happen in The World of Next Tuesday. The jeans are made in a factory by stitching robots. This factory is located within your own country, as the price of labour (i.e. robot maintenance and electricity) has dropped down so low that it is cheaper to produce the goods in your country than produce and ship them from another. A robot truck delivers them, perhaps interstate, to a local distribution centre. You could go to the mall and look at some jeans, but that's somewhat excessive when you can just order a solar-powered drone to fly to your house with a selection of jeans in your size, let it land itself on the table and give you a couple of different camera angles as you try them on. Or maybe you forgo remote production and delivery entirely by ordering the patterns online and entering them into your own stitching machine. Using automation, scores of human positions have been replaced, and scores more have been eliminated. It wouldn't be unusual to see the price drop to a quarter of what it was previously. You might say “But those greedy capitalists will just install their robots and keep the profits for themselves! Those savings won't reach the consumers!” Some of the business owners will behave in this way, no doubt. But it only takes one very efficient and economical company to use a new production and cost model to put pressure on an entire industry. One single company selling clothes this way can disrupt the existing models enough to change everything, bidding down the price like a Dutch auction. You might say “So what Kurt? Now we'll be getting cheap jeans, whoopedydediiddly-doo!” The point is this: these savings will be passed on to just about everything you buy. Every table made from wood chopped by robots, every television delivered to your door by a drone, every tomato shipped from Sonora to Jalisco, every piece of fertiliser delivered by auto-truck to grow that tomato, and every irrigation pipe laid by machine. Every, every, everything. Automation Isn't New So What's The Big Deal

06:33
I have done a few videos in the past on automation but now feel the need to address it again. Currently, it seems like the discussion surrounding automation is all over the place. People are suddenly panicking about their jobs being stolen out from under them by robots. Automation has been around for multiple decades so why the mass hysteria now? Our computers can troubleshoot and self-diagnose their WiFi problems, we use ATMs at the bank and kiosks at the airport to check in for flights, and even ring ourselves up at the grocery store! There has been a lot of focus on software automation for many years and the conversation has now evolved to job loss and replacement. How did we get to this point? Because automation is evolving drastically. It used to involve basic things you could get done, not overly complex tasks…nothing that could replace a human in the workforce. Now automation is becoming extremely sophisticated. We are seeing a whole new level of robots and artificial intelligence that can even understand speech and facial expressions. This opens up the door for software to do our jobs for us. They can sift through medical records, write our articles, and even teach our children! Automation is so advanced that people are concerned it is coming for our jobs. Remember, automation and bots are not new. The thing that is new is the level of automation and the tasks that they are capable of. So what do we do to protect our jobs? The greatest thing that you can do is learn how to learn. Don’t just stand there and wait for automation to take away your job. Take courses online, study YouTube videos, and really take on professional development for yourself. ----------------------------------------¬------ ABOUT THE FUTURE IN FIVE The Future in Five is a regular video series where best-selling author, speaker, and futurist Jacob Morgan shares his ideas, insights, and commentary around the future of work in five minutes or less! MR-S1 Milking Robot (English)

09:15
BouMatic Robotics presents the MR-S1: a revolutionary milking robot that approaches automated milking in an entirely new way. The milking system is moreover simple and compact, so it can be easily integrated and operated. Milking from behind We are the first on the market to introduce a robotised milking system that does not milk the cow from the side, but from behind. This immediately offers plenty of advantages with regard to traffic, animal well-being and protection of the robotic system. The MR-S1 is the result of our innovative vision and extensive scientific research. The milking robot gives you high-quality milk in a very efficient way. Thorough and reliable The cow determines when she wants to be milked. The identification system recognizes the cow and assesses whether she needs to be milked and determines the amount of concentrate required. The robot arm approaches the cow between her rear legs and the teats are individually washed and pre-milked with the help of the separate pre-treatment cup. Controlled milking process The robot arm completes the milking process from its completely closed off technical space. All data about washing, priming and actually milking and checking the cows are stored in the database. The quality of the milk is continuously monitored.

KNAPP AG - Pick-it-Easy Robot

01:38
Pick-it-Easy Robot is a fully-automatic picking station well-suited for processing slow to medium moving articles, which normally comprise a large proportion of the SKUs in the warehouse. Despite slow or medium turnover rates, the multitude of articles translates to a high number of order lines for processing. The robot cell of Pick-it-Easy Robot is especially suitable because it unites flexibility and reliability with the necessary level of continuous high performance. The primary application for Pick-it-Easy Robot is in the pharmaceutical sector. Pick-it-Easy Robot is tailor-made for the typical range of articles in this sector, and is particularly suited for slow and medium moving articles. But as shown in the video from the CEMAT fair 2014 the field of application is flexible. Some minor changes to the existing system and equipment allow the application to the fashion branch. The zero defect philosophy based on modern image processing and recognition technologies also flowed into the development of Pick-it-Easy Robot. The picking process is monitored by several sensor systems. Any errors are detected and corrected controlled. The cost of errors is clearly reduced and the delivery quality is improved.

Is cold calling dead or is automation technology better in the future - Scott Sylvan Bell

02:53
Cold calling is something that salespeople have done for as long as sales has been around. The real question comes down to "Is cold calling dead". Social media and other technology allows for salespeople to target buyers through special groups and lists. This technology can be used instead of taking the time to go door to door. Bots will also make this process faster. In a way to old traditional way of cold calling is dying but using technology is the new way to find buyers of products, goods and services. Not learning how to use the newer technology or social media is sales sabotage. Robotics Technologies in Hindi 2018 | Component of Robotics 2018 | Robotics for Beginners

12:59
Robotics Technologies Professionals in robotics technologies blend computer science with electrical and mechanical engineering to create automated, intelligent machines. If you're interested in this field, read on to learn how to turn your interest into expertise and begin a career in robotics technologies. Robotics technology depends heavily on Motor Controls, Sensors, and Processors. As such, Mouser Electronics has brought together a collection of products, articles, and resources especially suited to making robots and related robotics. Robots can be defined as intelligent machines that accomplish (usually repetitive) work that humans have done in the past. Except robots never get tired or bored, they can do work that are potentially dangerous, or that would kill for people. Most robots use a large number of sensors and motors, especially as they try to replace human task-oriented actions. Multiple sensors in cars, phones, and the pervasive use of technology is changing the way we live in fundamental ways. Robotics has the potential to merge into every day technology to where it’s taken for granted, much like smartphones and television. A robot can only perceive information when it has sensors; sense of touch is accomplished with feedback sensors, sense of balance is accomplished with gyroscopes and accelerometers, and so on. Movement is accomplished with multiple motors that can make extremely fine and precise repetitive movements that can consistently deliver the same action or series of actions with the help of encoders and other positions sensors. Pulling all of this together is the brain; which for robots is a central processor or multiple processors or controllers that are programmed by the robot’s creators. Movement, robots typically employ two types of motors: steppers and servos. Steppers are a specific type of brushless electric DC motor that can operate accurately without a position sensor for feedback; they can make precise, small movements. Servos are a type of DC motor that require a means to determine their present position in order to execute a precise motion. Servos are also better at continuous, high torque work at higher speeds than stepper motors. Share, Support, Subscribe!!! Cosmetics, Supply Chain, Warehouse Automation, Logistics Software, Natura Brazil Cosmetics

04:59
Natura Brazil Cosmetics is Brazil's biggest company for cosmetics, toiletries, perfumes and drugstore articles. It provides over 100 million customers in Latin America and Europe with its products. In order to be able to guarantee the high degree of customer satisfaction and to also reduce errors within the logistics chain, Natura assigned the general contractor SSI Schaefer for the planning and implementation of a logistics hub in Itupeva, São Paulo (Brazil). This distribution centre, with a storage area of 35,000 m2 and a capacity to store 3.6 million bins, is the biggest hub within the Natura logistics network. It provides two further hubs, all international companies as well as twelve distribution centres with Natura products. Twenty truck loads are handled daily thanks to an automated unloading system for trucks which was especially designed for Natura. This automated unloading system can transport 48 pallets simultaneously and unload them in less than 5 minutes fully automatically. In incoming goods, all pallets and loading units are checked for conformity at an inspection station before being stored in a vertical warehouse with 13 storage-retrieval machines of the type Exyz. The storage and retrieval process at the 90,000 pallet locations is extremely energy-efficient. Retrieval is handled by the flexible multi-level shuttle system Navette, which consists of twenty individual warehouse shuttles. The system organises more than 1000 different Natura products directly in the outgoing goods and depalletisation areas. Afterwards the trucks are loaded fully automatically. During retrieval mixed pallets can be created. This reduces the time needed for loading and helps to economise room for loading on the truck. The logistics software WAMAS by SSI Schaefer takes care of the administration, control and optimisation of the entire logistics process in the hub. 3,000 pallets leave the hub on a daily basis to be shipped all over the word. http://www.ssi-schaefer.com

The Robotic Future of Elderly Care | Thomas Bock | TEDxTUM

17:52
Everything in our lives is becoming smarter and more robotic. Why not use our technological advancements to aid the elderly so they can live independent and self-fulfilled lives? Thomas was inspired by life support systems used for astronauts and wanted to translate the same concept to elderly care. His goal is to create environments for elderly people, assisted by inventions like mechatronic furniture, in which they feel comfortable, useful, and can make their daily lives easier. Prof. Thomas Bock has a multidisciplinary background having studied architecture, civil engineering and robotics. He is an expert in construction robotics who combines automation, robotics and mechatronics into the built environment to solve future demographic and societal challenges with emphasis on making life easier for the elderly by designing different life support systems. His motivation to assist one of the vulnerable section of the society is very inspiring. He also has a vast international and multicultural experience having worked in different countries like European countries, Iran, North and Central America, Japan, South Korea, China and Russia. He is a pioneer of several new ideas in construction robotics and continues to author several related articles and books. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
