This is a practical vocabulary lesson about words we use at the bank. Banking has a set of specialized vocabulary, and you may be nervous to go to the bank in an English-speaking country. But knowing some useful words will make it easy and pleasant for you. In this lesson, I will teach you the meaning of "bank teller", "PIN", "investments", "account", "deposit", "withdraw", and many more terms associated with going to the bank. If you want to feel more confident when going to the bank and speaking in English, watch this lesson and complete the quiz. After that, you'll be in business! http://www.engvid.com/real-english-vocabulary-at-the-bank/ TRANSCRIPT Hi, everyone. I'm Alex. Thanks for clicking, and welcome to this lesson on "Bank Vocabulary". Today, we're going to talk about going to the bank, and the different things you can do, and the different verbs associated and nouns associated with this very common experience. So, first, when you enter the bank, you have to "get in line" or "get in the queue". Now, specifically, in the United States, even in Canada, we use the word "line" when you're waiting to see someone at the bank. If you are in other parts of the world, specifically England, you can also call a line a "queue", so you get in the queue or get in line. Next, once it's your turn to, you know, do your business at the bank, you see a "bank teller". So, the name of the person who helps you at the bank is the teller. And after you see the bank teller, if you already have an account with the bank, you have to use your bank card and put in your "PIN". Your "PIN" is your personal identification number, your code, your password. Right? Now, once this is done, you're ready, the bank teller can see your account. Or maybe it's your first time and you didn't put in a PIN, there are different things you can do and ask for when you're at the bank. Number one, you can say: "Hi. I'd like to open an account", or "close an account". Now, again the two most common types of accounts at a bank are a checking account and a savings account. So your checking is your everyday spending. This is what you use your debit card for. Right? So, I'm just going to put "debit card" here. Your debit card is your bank card, and this is what you use to make payments when you go out to restaurants, movie theaters, etc. Okay, you can also transfer money when you are at the bank. So if you'd like to move some money from your checking account, for example, to one of your other accounts, such as a savings account or maybe a joint account that you have with your partner, husband, wife, etc., you can ask to do that. You can say: "Hi. I'd like to transfer $200 from my checking account to my savings account." And again, this is if you don't do online banking, which solves a lot of these issues. Now, instead of transferring money, you can also "deposit" money or "make a deposit". This means you are putting money into your accounts. So if you, you know, receive a check from the government, for example, or maybe your workplace still gives checks (it still happens, it does), you can deposit that check. And "deposit it" means put that money into your account. You can "withdraw". Now, "to withdraw" is to take out money. So, these two are really the most common verbs when you're talking about exchanging money with the bank, whether you're in the bank or at an ATM machine. So you deposit, which means you put money in; withdraw means you take money out. So you can withdraw or take out money. And the term we can also use is you can make a "withdrawal". And you'll see the "al" here, this means that, again, this is a noun in this case. The verb, there's no "al" at the end; it's just "withdraw". Withdraw money. You can "pay a bill". So, again, bills are our favourite things in the world, like pay for your electricity at your house, or your television, internet, etc. Now, again, this doesn't only have to be for those common things, because most people today, you have an automatic withdraw happens when you pay for a bill. But again, sometimes you get something where you have to go to the bank to pay the bill. If you get something from the Ministry of Transportation or something from the government, and it's unclear what you have to do to pay something online, you can go to the bank and you can pay that bill. Also, you can "exchange currency". So if you are travelling somewhere and you only have money from your country, you can change that money. And again, the name for "money" in this case is "currency", like the dollar is one type of currency, the yen is another type of currency. And you can ask the bank: "What's your rate?" because different places, exchange offices, banks, will have different rates for your currency. So, for example, the bank might say, if I'm travelling from Canada to the United States, they might say: "95 cents per dollar." Okay? So for every dollar that I have Canadian, I receive 95 cents American.

Welcome to the Investors Trading Academy talking glossary of financial terms and events. Our word of the day is “Balance Of Payment” The balance of payments, also known as balance of international payments, encompasses all transactions between a country's residents and its nonresidents involving goods, services and income; financial claims on and liabilities to the rest of the world; and transfers such as gifts. The BOP is divided into three main categories: the current account, the capital account and the financial account. Within these three categories are sub-divisions, each of which accounts for a different type of international monetary transaction. The current account is used to mark the inflow and outflow of goods and services into a country. Earnings on investments, both public and private, are also put into the current account. Within the current account are credits and debits on the trade of merchandise, which includes goods such as raw materials and manufactured goods that are bought, sold or given away or possibly in the form of aid. Services refer to receipts from tourism, transportation (like the levy that must be paid in Egypt when a ship passes through the Suez Canal), engineering, business service fees (from lawyers or management consulting, for example) and royalties from patents and copyrights. When combined, goods and services together make up a country's balance of trade. The BOT is typically the biggest bulk of a country's balance of payments as it makes up total imports and exports. If a country has a balance of trade deficit, it imports more than it exports, and if it has a balance of trade surplus, it exports more than it imports. By Barry Norman, Investors Trading Academy

http://www.tradefinanceglobal.com/finance-products/trade-finance/ What is Trade Finance? Transcript: Hi, I’m Sam, and I want to tell you all about trade finance, and along the journey, this might even help your clients. Did you know, around 80-90% of global trade is reliant on trade and supply chain finance, which is estimated to be worth around $10 trillion US dollars a year. We want to help explain some of the concepts behind trade finance, should it ever be useful for you to explain or help your clients. Sometimes banks might not be the best funding option. We’ve seen increasing regulation, reduced standard lending, and SMEs finding it difficult to access finance from traditional means. Is this really the case? Absolutely not! At Trade Finance Global, we help companies find debt funding. We’re impartial, flexible and work with most funders on the market to ensure SMEs really do get the most appropriate source of funding to help them grow. So what do we offer? In a nutshell, we offer business finance solutions, through our network of lenders to companies. This video covers trade finance – which is one type of debt finance, how it works, and everything you need to know to explain it. What is trade finance? Trade finance is an umbrella term encompassing many types of debt finance, including those which we offer, such as, invoice finance, factoring, letters of credit, forfaiting, export credit, open account, cash advance, documentary collections, guarantees and structured finance– some of which we will discuss in later videos. Today we’ll be talking to you about core ‘trade finance’ and how it works. Most people think that trade finance involves international trade, however, it often just involves domestic or internal trade. So, how does it work? A trade finance transaction will require a seller of goods and services as well as a buyer. A lender would come in and fund this trade. Trade finance is relevant where a seller requires a buyer to prepay for goods shipped. In traditional long-standing relationships, there is often a lot of trust between the seller and the buyer, where they may trade on open account terms. However, in most trading relationships, trade finance will be used. What is needed? As an example, the buyer wants to reduce their risk by asking the seller to document that the goods have been shipped. The buyer’s bank assists by providing a letter of credit to the seller (or the seller’s bank) providing for payment upon presentation of certain documents, such as a bill of lading. The type of document used in the process depends on the nature of the transaction and how evidence of performance can be shown (i.e. bill of lading to show shipment). Trade finance is the type of finance used by buyers and sellers to assist with the trade cycle funding gap. So, if you’re a UK buyer purchasing clothes from China, you might use a trade finance facility to mitigate and reduce risk. Lenders who assist with bridging this finance gap will normally require a number of elements to make sure that the transactions are safe, effective and secure. They will ensure: - Control the financial elements of the transaction - Monitor the trade cycle throughout the trade - Security of the goods and the debt, which is also known as a receivable What’s the risk? When trading goods, either the buyer or the seller will have to take some form of risk. A seller wants payment upfront, whilst a buyer would want to defer payment by receiving some form of credit terms. So how does trade finance help? It’s often difficult to convince a seller to provide extended payment terms, as they normally want the cash upfront. This is particularly difficult when trading with unfamiliar partners. Paying sellers up front for goods can be difficult when businesses are under pressure to sell products on to their end customers. With trade finance, payments are made directly to UK or overseas sellers, which bridges the funding gap between paying suppliers and being paid by customers. At Trade Finance Global, we know that standard forms of debt don’t work, and most business owners are not keen to put up standard security. Within trade finance, instead, it’s possible to use purchase orders, invoices, insurance and goods to be used as security. So, how does it work? Using a Trade Finance facility is straightforward: 1. Firstly, an order is placed with a supplier; 2. The funder then pays the seller upon guarantee of the goods being shipped. 3. Goods are shipped and delivered to the end customers of the company and 4. Finally, the buyer repays the lender. Depending on what is agreed, this may be within 90 days from the transaction date

Watch more How to Buy a Car videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/399308-How-to-Calculate-Car-Payments You've just seen the car of your dreams, but you're not sure if the price is right. In a few steps, you can calculate your potential car payments and decide if you'll be able to afford a new ride. Step 1: Convert the interest rate percentage to a decimal Convert your loan's interest rate to a decimal number by dropping the percent sign and dividing the number by 100. Step 2: Divide decimal number by 12 Divide the interest rate on your car loan by 12. Write this number on a piece of paper. Step 3: Multiply by your car loan principal Multiply the number by the loan's principal amount -- the total amount of your car loan. Write this number down, as it will be used in your final calculation. Tip Remember to subtract any down payment you might make from the new car's purchase price when figuring out the principal amount. Step 4: Add 1 plus the interest divided by 12 Recall the number you got from dividing the interest rate by 12 in step 2. Add 1 to this number. Step 5: Multiply sum by itself, using number of payments as exponent Take the sum from step 4 raised to the power of the number of months included in the term of your loan. For example, if you will make 36 monthly payments, multiply the sum from step 4 by itself 36 times. Step 6: Calculate 1 divided by this sum Calculate 1 divided by the result from step of your multiplication. Tip Round this number to the nearest hundredths place to make it easier to work with. Step 7: Subtract sum from 1 Subtract this number from 1. Jot this number down for use in your final calculation. Tip Avoid the math by using car payment calculators found on many auto dealer and bank websites. Step 8: Divide the first number by the second Divide the number from step 3 by the number from step 7 for your final monthly car payment. Think about whether this will fit into your monthly budget. If so, you might want to ride off in that dream car. Did You Know? The Smithsonian Institute has been collecting cars since 1899, and has more than 60 cars in its collection, including a 1913 Model T Ford and a 1903 Cadillac.

Visit http://medschoolinsiders.com to learn more about how you can be a stellar applicant and maximize your chances of not only getting accepted to medical school, but also receiving scholarships and grants (free money!). Use coupon SCHOLARSHIP15 for $15 off your purchase of $100 or more. ***Download the Med School Insiders Scholarship Excel file and Other Scholarship Resource Links: http://medschoolinsiders.com/pre-med/cost-of-medical-school-minimize-debt/ Medical school is expensive. You already know that. The average cost is $60,000 per year for public medical schools, and even higher for private medical schools. The average debt for medical students graduating in 2017 was close to $200,000. I was fortunate enough to graduate with actually very little debt. I'll show you how to do the same. First, shout out to my Patreon supporters! Support the channel and become a Patron! Visit https://patreon.com/medschoolinsiders Special thanks to David Duong. There are three places where you'll get money to pay for medical school: 1) You and your family's contributions 2) Loans (federal, school/organizational, or private) 3) Scholarships and grants (free money) Your parents have no obligation to pay for any of your medical school expenses, so be very grateful if they do end up helping you at all. My parents did not provide assistance to my college or medical school expenses, however I was still able to graduate without significant debt. More on that shortly. Loans can be divided into federal, school, and private loans. Avoid private loans. Federal and school loans are what you want to go with, but only take out the amount you need. Taking out extra means more interest you'll have to pay in the end. Scholarship and grants are free money, and you should do everything in your power to maximize their availability to you. First, when you get accepted to medical school, reach out to your school's financial aid office and ask for their list of scholarships and grants. Apply to ones that you are eligible for as soon as possible. Eligibility criteria varies, and can include religious background/affiliation, sexual orientation, nationality or ethnicity, practice type (primary care, underserved, etc.), and many more. Here's the secret sauce: if you get accepted to multiple medical schools, allow the schools to incentivize you to come to their school. Simply send an email to the admissions office, explain you are interested in their program but are weighing other acceptances as well. Ask if there are any scholarship or grants they can offer to reduce your out of pocket cost. After sending out these emails to the schools I was accepted to and interested in, I was able to get almost all of my medical school paid for. Had I not sent out these emails, I may have been in hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. Now I say this not to toot my own horn but for full transparency: I was a highly competitive medical school applicant. Now while its impossible to guarantee merit based scholarships, multiple advisors on http://MedSchoolInsiders.com also earned sizable or even full ride scholarships to medical school. These are real doctors who were top performers. At MedSchoolInsiders we don't settle for anything less. We can show you exactly how we did it, and teach you from our own first hand experience of success. If you want to be a stellar applicant and receive one-on-one advising, tutoring, interview preparation, personal statement or secondary editing, mentorship, or any of the other services we offer, visit http://MedSchoolInsiders.com. || CONNECT WITH US || WEBSITE: https://medschoolinsiders.com TWITTER: https://twitter.com/MedInsiders FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/medschoolinsiders INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/medschoolinsiders AMAZON STORE: https://www.amazon.com/shop/medschoolinsiders Music: http://soundcloud.com/lakeyinspired Disclaimer: Content of this video is my opinion and does not constitute medical advice. http://www.contextures.com/excelpmtfunction.html Go to this page to download the free sample file. To calculate a loan payment in Excel, you can use the PMT function. The PMT function calculates the payment for a loan that has constant payments and a constant interest rate. Enter an interest rate, the number of payments, and the loan amount on the worksheet. Then, refer to those cells in the PMT formula. Watch this short video to see the steps for setting up a payment calculation, using the PMT function. Instructor: Debra Dalgleish, Contextures Inc. Get Debra's weekly Excel tips: http://www.contextures.com/signup01 More Excel Tips and Tutorials: http://www.contextures.com/tiptech.html Subscribe to Contextures YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/contextures?sub_confirmation=1 '---------------------- Transcript - Calculate Loan Payments with Excel PMT Function In Excel, to calculate monthly payments, you can use the PMT function. In this example, we're going to enter the annual rate, and then the number of payments we have to make, the amount that we'll be borrowing, and then we'll use the PMT function in this cell to calculate the monthly payment. The annual rate that we're going to pay is 5%. In this cell, we're going to borrow the amount over four years. There are 12 months per year, so 48 months. I'll be making 48 payments, and the amount that we're going to borrow is $10,000. Those are the three numbers that we need in order to calculate the monthly payment. Here is the syntax for the PMT function. We'll start by typing equals, and then PMT, open bracket, and now I'm going to click on the cell where I entered the rate. I'll click here where it says 5%, but it's not 5% per month. That's the annual rate. I'm going to click after that cell reference, type a slash for division. then I'll type 12, because we're paying that rate over 12 months. Then I'll type a comma, and the next argument is the number of periods. I'll click on the Number of Payments cell, and type another comma. The present value, or the amount of the loan, is 10,000, so I'll click on that cell. The other two arguments are optional, so I'm not going to use them. The fv is the future value, so that's what you want left at the end of all your payments, and if you don't enter it, we assume zero. We want to pay everything off, so I don't have to enter anything there. The type is also optional. If I omit it, we assume that it's zero, and you're going to be making your payments at the end of the period. If you type a one, then you'd be paying at the beginning of the period. I'll close the bracket and press Enter, and there's the monthly payment. It's in this cell as a negative amount because it's a payment that I owe, but if you wanted to show it as a positive number, just click after the equals sign, right before the PMT function name, and type a minus sign, and press Enter. Now that shows as a positive amount in the payment cell. For more Excel tips and tutorials, and to download the sample file for this video, please visit my Contextures website at www.contextures.com.

When I consider purchasing an individual health insurance plan for myself or my family, do I have any financial obligations beyond the monthly premium and annual deductible? Answers: It depends on the plan, but some plans have the following cost-sharing elements that you should be aware of. Co-Payments: Some plans include a co-payment, which is typically a specific flat fee you pay for each medical service, such as $30 for an office visit. After the co-payment is made, the insurance company typically pays the remainder of the covered medical charges. Deductibles: Some plans include a deductible, which typically refers to the amount of money you must pay each year before your health insurance plan starts to pay for covered medical expenses. Coinsurance: Some plans include coinsurance. Coinsurance is a cost sharing requirement that makes you responsible for paying a certain percentage of any costs. The insurance company pays the remaining percentage of the covered medical expenses after your insurance deductible is met. Out-of-pocket limit: Some plans include an out-of-pocket limit. Typically, the out-of-pocket limit is the maximum amount you will pay out of your own pocket for covered medical expenses in a given year. The out-of-pocket limit typically includes deductibles and coinsurance. But, out-of-pocket limits don't typically apply to co-payments. Lifetime maximum: Most plans include a lifetime maximum. Typically the lifetime maximum is the amount your insurance plan will pay for covered medical expenses in the course of your lifetime. Exclusions & Limitations: Most health insurance carriers disclose exclusions & limitations of their plans. It is always a good idea to know what benefits are limited and which services are excluded on your plan. You will be obligated to pay for 100% of services that are excluded on your policy. Beginning September 23, 2010, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (health care reform) begins to phase out annual dollar limits. Starting on September 23, 2012, annual limits on health insurance plans must be at least $2 million. By 2014 no new health insurance plan will be permitted to have an annual dollar limit on most covered benefits. Some health insurance plans purchased before March 23, 2010 have what is called "grandfathered status." Health Insurance Plans with Grandfathered status are exempt from several changes required by health care reform including this phase out of annual limits on health coverage. If you purchased your health insurance policy after March 23, 2010 and you're due for a routine preventive care screening like a mammogram or colonoscopy, you may be able to receive that preventive care screening without making a co-payment. You can talk to your insurer or your licensed eHealthInsurance agent if you need help determining whether or not you qualify for a screening without a co-payment. There are five important changes that occurred with individual and family health insurance policies on September 23, 2010. Those changes are: 1. Added protection from rate increases: Insurance companies will need to publically disclose any rate increases and provide justification before raising your monthly premiums. 2. Added protection from having insurance canceled: An insurance company cannot cancel your policy except in cases of intentional misrepresentations or fraud. 3. Coverage for preventive care: Certain recommended preventive services, immunizations, and screenings will be covered with no cost sharing requirement. 4. No lifetime maximums on health coverage: No lifetime limits on the dollar value of those health benefits deemed to be essential by the Department of Health and Human Services. 5. No pre-existing condition exclusions for children: If you have children under the age of 19 with pre-existing medical conditions, their application for health insurance cannot be declined due to a pre-existing medical condition. In some states a child may need to wait for the state's open-enrollment period before their application will be approved.

“How much will I get from Social Security each month, and how much will I get as a lump sum?” I get these questions from 99% of my clients and for good reason. Social Security does not make it easy to calculate how much you will get. The calculations Social Security uses to determine exactly how much you will get are unduly complicated - without access to a great deal of raw data, it is almost impossible to make manual calculations. Your “mySocialSecurity” account (https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/ is a good place to start but often those figures are not up to date. In this video, I hope to offer you some perspective - what do I generally see in terms of monthly benefit payments and lump sums in both SSDI and SSI claims. Your payment will depend on factors unique to you but I want you to have some idea about what is typical. If you are thinking about applying, or if you have recently been denied and want some ideas about how to win, please contact me - I’d be happy to help. =============== FREE SURVIVAL KIT ================ Don't know where to begin? What exactly is an API? Finally learn for yourself in this helpful video from MuleSoft, the API experts. https://www.mulesoft.com/platform/api The textbook definition goes something like this: “An application programming interface (API) is a set of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications. An API expresses a software component in terms of its operations, inputs, outputs, and underlying types. An API defines functionalities that are independent of their respective implementations, which allows definitions and implementations to vary without compromising each other. A good API makes it easier to develop a program by providing all the building blocks. APIs often come in the form of a library that includes specifications for routines, data structures, object classes, and variables. In other cases, notably SOAP and REST services, an API is simply a specification of remote calls exposed to the API consumers. An API specification can take many forms, including an International Standard, such as POSIX, vendor documentation, such as the Microsoft Windows API, or the libraries of a programming language, e.g., the Standard Template Library in C++ or the Java APIs. An API differs from an application binary interface (ABI) in that an API is source code-based while an ABI is a binary interface. For instance POSIX is an API, while the Linux Standard Base provides an ABI”. To speak plainly, an API is the messenger that runs and delivers your request to the provider you’re requesting it from, and then delivers the response back to you. To give you a familiar example, think of an API as a waiter in a restaurant. Imagine you’re sitting at the table with a menu of choices to order from, and the kitchen is the provider who will fulfill your order. What’s missing is the critical link to communicate your order to the kitchen and deliver your food back to your table. That’s where the waiter (or API) comes in. ”AHEM” The waiter takes your order, delivers it to the kitchen, and then delivers the food (or response) back to you. (Hopefully without letting your order crash if designed correctly) Now that we’ve whetted your appetite, let’s apply this to a real API example. In keeping with our theme, let’s book a flight to a culinary capital – Paris. You’re probably familiar with the process of searching for airline flights online. Just like at a restaurant, you have a menu of options to choose from ( a dropdown menu in this case). You choose a departure city and date, a return city and date, cabin class, and other variables (like meal or seating, baggage or pet requests) In order to book your flight, you interact with the airline’s website to access the airline’s database to see if any seats are available on those dates, and what the cost might be based on certain variables. But, what if you are not using the airline’s website, which has direct access to the information? What if you are using online travel service that aggregates information from many different airlines? Just like a human interacts with the airline’s website to get that information, an application interacts with the airline’s API. The API is the interface that, like your helpful waiter, runs and and delivers the data from that online travel service to the airline’s systems over the Internet. It also then takes the airline’s response to your request and delivers right back to the online travel service . And through each step of the process it facilitates that interaction between the travel service and the airline’s systems - from seat selection to payment and booking. So now you can see that it’s APIs that make it possible for us all to use travel sites. They interface with with airlines’ APIs to gather information in order to present options back to us The same goes for all interactions between applications, data and devices - they all have API’s that allow computers to operate them, and that's what ultimately creates connectivity. API’s provide a standard way of accessing any application, data or device whether it is shopping from your phone, or accessing cloud applications at work. So, whenever you think of an API, just think of it as your waiter running back and forth between applications, databases and devices to deliver data and create the connectivity that puts the world at our fingertips. And whenever you think of creating an API, think MuleSoft.
