Microsoft Exchange and Office365 are extremely popular products that organizations use for enterprise email. These services can be exploited by remote attackers to potentially gain access to Active Directory user credentials. In this Tradecraft Security Weekly episode Beau Bullock (@dafthack) demonstrates how to utilize MailSniper to enumerate internal domains, enumerate usernames, perform password spraying attacks, and get the global address list from Exchange and Office365 portals. The Exchange Management Shell is built on Windows PowerShell technology and provides a powerful command-line interface that enables the automation of Exchange administration tasks. You can use the Exchange Management Shell to manage every aspect of Exchange. For example, you can create email accounts, create Send connectors and Receive connectors, configure mailbox database properties, and manage distribution groups. You can use the Exchange Management Shell to perform every task that's available in the Exchange graphical management tools, plus things that you can't do there (for example, bulk operations). In fact, when you do something in the Exchange admin center (EAC), the Exchange Control Panel (ECP), or the Exchange Management Console (EMC), it's the Exchange Management Shell that does the work behind the scenes. The Exchange Management Shell also provides a robust and flexible scripting platform. Visual Basic scripts that required many lines of code can be replaced by Exchange Management Shell commands that use as little as one line of code. The Exchange Management Shell provides this flexibility because it uses an object model that's based on the Microsoft .NET Framework. This object model enables Exchange cmdlets to apply the output from one command to subsequent commands. To start using the Exchange Management Shell immediately, see the Exchange Management Shell documentation section later in this topic.

Will you be able to take advantage of bigger servers with more processors and memory? Perhaps. Will we finally make Exchange PowerShell easy to use? Unlikely, but it's worth coming to find out, isn't it?

If you can't access EMC Exchange 2010 do the following: Resolutions: Method 1: Close all MMC/EMC instances before proceeding. Open Registry Editor (regedit) as the user you run the EMC under. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14\AdminTools Look for value NodeStructureSetting. If it is there, back it up and then remove it. Method 2: Close all MMC/EMC Instances before proceeding. Open Powershell or Powershell IDE as the user you run the EMC under and execute the following command:. Remove-ItemProperty -Path HKCU:\Software\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14\AdminTools\ -Name NodeStructureSettings Close Powershell After performing either of the methods above to remove the registry entry you should be able to open the Exchange Management Console and it will discover another Exchange server and connect.
