Pound to euro exchange rate: Best rate as GBP tiptoes to €1.124 POUND to euro exchnage rate has climbed to €1.124 today, a small improvement. The Post Office is offering €1.0966 to the pound and £750 buys €822.45. The pound to euro exchange rate has improved slightly thanks to activity in Europe. Foreign markets have encouraged sterling to tiptoe hight to €1.124. Laura Parsons currency analyst at TorFX spoke to Express.co.uk about the state of the British currency. She revealed the Italian budget is in part behind the slightly better rate. UK business confidence is also in part to thank for the improved state of the British currency today. Laura said: “Italian budget concerns and an improvement in UK business confidence have helped the GBP/EUR exchange rate tiptoe to €1.124.” Could the pound to euro exchange rate improve over the weekend? According to experts sterling “could” climb further. Laura said: “We could see further Sterling gains before the weekend if UK growth data impresses.” However, improvement in the pound could be limited by rising inflations rates. Laura added: “Any upward momentum in GBP/EUR will be limited if Eurozone inflation rises as expected.” Yesterday the pound to euro was traiding in the region of €1.121. She told the Express it “could edge higher if the European Central Bank’s (ECB) economic bulletin indicates that interest rates won’t rise until the end of 2019. “Any declines in the Eurozone’s economic sentiment measures could also leave the euro under pressure.” The Post Office is offering €1.0966 to the pound and £750 buys €822.45. Martin Lewis’s travel money advice includes one thing to always take on holiday to get the best deal. A former financial journalist, Martin Lewis to Britons: “Normally spend abroad on plastic and it adds a 'non sterling exchange fee' of three per cent ish, meaning £100 of euros costs you £103. “Plus there are cash withdrawal fees on top. Yet specialist cards don't do that. These cards give you near-perfect rates every time you spend, on every trip to every country.” Facts about British currency Monarch direction When a new monarch ascends to the throne and their profile is put on to currency, the side they face is swapped. This means Charles will face left on British currency when he becomes King, as currently the Queen faces right. Huge notes The £50 not is the highest-value banknote in general circulation, but there are a small number of “giant” and “titan” notes - £1million and £100million notes respectively. These are not designed for general use, but were instead created to back the value of everyday notes issued by commercial banks in Scotland Northern Ireland. According to the BBC: “For every pound an authorised Scottish or Northern Irish bank wants to print in the form of its own notes, it has to deposit the equivalent amount in sterling with the Bank of England.” Design Royal Mint create and execute the designs for British coins. Mid of Gordon Brown and officials raising glasses to toast the opening of new London Stock Exchange office in Beijing STORYLINE: British Prime Minister Gordon Brown opened a local office of the London Stock Exchange in Beijing on Friday, stepping up its rivalry with US markets to attract listings by fast-growing Chinese companies expanding abroad. "I believe that this announcement today and this opening today means good fortune both for London and for China," Brown said before cutting a ribbon to officially open the new office. Brown has launched a major offensive to position Britain as China's premier international business partner, offering London as a base for distribution of China's state fund for private investment. Brown's two-day visit, which also takes in Shanghai, is calculated to gain an advantage on the United States and the rest of Europe in investment opportunities and economic benefits offered by both China's increasingly open domestic consumer market and growing money pot for overseas investment. Brown said China's 200 (b) billion US dollar government investment fund could offer significant capital for British businesses, adding he did not share the concerns of other countries about such state funds. China has increasingly become the focus of a charm offensive from Europe and the United States as its explosive growth slows little signs of slowing, despite the headwinds of the global credit crisis. Greedy currency firms are cashing in on uncertainty following the Brexit vote and are exploiting holidaymakers by offering less than a euro per pound, a Daily Mail investigation has found. Last night furious MPs criticised 'rip-off merchants' for taking advantage of the public's lack of financial knowledge to offer rock-bottom exchange rates. Following the EU vote, sterling fell 10 per cent against the euro – and to a 31-year low against the dollar. On the night of the referendum – June 23 – £1 was worth 1.31 euros or $1.50.After the result, rates tumbled to 1.22 euros and $1.34 per pound. And the market rate for sterling has since fallen to around 1.173 euros (shown on the map, top) and $1.30. Moneycorp last night said it had not increased its margins and rates differ between online and airports. Travelex (bottom) said its rates took into consideration 'volatility in the market'. a hang out with, broseph Paul, to talk about his experience and knowledge within the use of negotiable instruments 👑👊 we will also talk about the difference and use of :- Bank giro credits (BGCs) are used by customers to pay cash or cheques into a bank account. They are commonly found in the form of tear-off strips at the bottom of utility, telephone and other regular bills. A bank giro credit is basically a paper slip addressed to a bank branch instructing it to credit a specified sum of money to a named account at that branch. It bears the money mark logo next to the words “bank giro credit.” A joint giro credit is one that has been issued by a biller and it can be used to pay a bill either at a bank, in which case it will be cleared through the inter-bank credit clearing, or at a branch of the Post Office. The joint giro credit is addressed to Santander (UK) plc , the alliance and Leicester or whatever banks is listed and has the words "TRANSCASH” printed on it, as well as the words “bank giro credit” and the money mark logo. lest we not forget!!!

Information service Luceverde, run by the Italian Automobile Club in collaboration with city police, said on Twitter that ‘technical checks’ were being carried out near the post office. The post office was open at the time, with reports suggesting a high volume of customers and clerks present. Hi, this 'How To' video shows a real example of an increase in internet ADSL broadband speed of over 60%. It is ideal if you want to fit an ADSL or VDSL faceplate but your router is located nowhere near your master socket. It shows you how to use your existing telephone extensions to provide a dedicated ADSL or VDSL extension which can help increase your broadband speed because the signal can degrade as it travels through voice telephone extension wiring. It is always best to install your router by your master socket but if this is not possible then follow the steps in this video. By using the setup in this video you stop the broadband signal travelling down the voice extensions and allow it to travel down a twisted pair of wires to the location of your router. In the UK master sockets are often located in the hallway because historically people had a single telephone in the hallway but this is not the ideal place for a router as most people want the router hidden away or next to the computer. In the video the router stats which shows what the line is capable of achieving went up over 60% but the actual results on speedtest.net stayed the same but this is due to DLM (Dynamic Line Management) which on Plusnet broadband can take up to 3 days to change so within 3 days of this video the actual speedtest.net speed would increase in line or just below the actual router stats. In hindsight I should have shown the before and after router stats page but I didn't BUT I did note down the results as a comparison. Thanks for watching. Many thanks Vince

After 30 years without an answer it's time to find out who protected the infamous Paedophile Information Exchange by Tom Watson It was established in 1974 to campaign for the age of consent to be lowered to four years old http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/tom-watson-after-30-years-2824776 ::: Legal action against PIE members In the summer of 1978, the homes of several PIE committee members were raided by the police as part of a full-scale inquiry into PIE's activities; as a result of this inquiry, a substantial report was submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions and the prosecution of PIE activists followed. In particular, five activists were charged with printing contact advertisements in Magpie which were calculated to promote indecent acts between adults and children. Others were offered lesser charges of sending indecent material through the mail if they testified against the five. These charges related to letters that the accused exchanged detailing various sexual fantasies. It eventually became clear that one person had corresponded with most of the accused but had not been tried. After the trial, it emerged that there had been a cover-up: Mr "Henderson" had worked for MI6 and been a high commissioner in Canada. Mr "Henderson" was later revealed via Private Eye to be Sir Peter Hayman. In 1981, Geoffrey Dickens MP asked the Attorney-General "if he will prosecute Sir Peter Hayman under the Post Office Acts for sending and receiving pornographic material through the Royal Mail". The Attorney-General, Michael Havers replied, "I am in agreement with the Director of Public Prosecutions' (Sir Thomas Chalmers Hetherington QC) advice not to prosecute Sir Peter Hayman and the other persons with whom he had carried on an obscene correspondence." Dickens asked, "How did such a potential blackmail risk come to hold highliy sensitive posts at the MOD and NATO?" He also asked the Leader of the House (of Commons) to investigate the security implications of diaries found in the diplomat's London flat which contained accounts of sexual exploits". There was much debate and condemnation in the World's press of these events. Steven Adrian Smith was Chairperson of PIE from 1979 to 1985. He was one of the PIE executive committee members charged in connection with the contact advertisements; he fled to Holland before the trial. In 1981 the former PIE Chairperson, Tom O'Carroll, was convicted on the conspiracy charge and sentenced to two years in prison. O'Carroll had been working on Paedophilia: The Radical Case in the period between the initial police raid and the trial. While the charges did not relate in any way to the publication of the book, the fact that he had written it was listed by the judge as a factor in determining the length of his sentence. In 1984 The Times reported that two former executive committee members of PIE had been convicted on child pornography charges but acquitted on charges of incitement to commit unlawful sexual acts with children and that the group's leader had fled the country while on bail. Pound to euro exchange rate: Improvement for sterling following worrying lows THE POUND has picked up against the euro following a difficult week which saw worrying lows for the UK exchange rate. A week of data releases in regards to the economy could help it improve even further and aid Britons buying foreign currency. The pound has picked up against the euro following a difficult week with lows of €1.110. It is currently trading at €1.118, according to Bloomberg figures. After ending the week at €1.111, the pound has still failed to make any large improvements. Laura Parsons, currency analyst at TorFX explained the movement of the pound. She told Express.co.uk: “The pound managed to approach the weekend on a high, with GBP/EUR briefly rallying above €1.121. “The euro came under pressure as Eurozone growth data underperformed, and the US dollar fluctuated as the US unemployment rate held at 3.9 per cent rather than dipping to 3.8 per cent as forecast.” Travellers looking to pick up some foreign currency before a holiday will find rates are much lower than usual. Britons trading £100 at the Post Office will get €110 in euros. However, spending abroad should always be done in local currency when using a bank card, according to Martin Lewis, to prevent any further charges. The pound could, however, pick up later this week thanks to new UK data releases. Ms Parsons explained: "We’ve got a full on week of data ahead of us, starting with today’s UK trade balance, industrial/manufacturing production and growth stats. “The growth report is likely to be the most influential of the releases, with unexpectedly good GDP figures having the potential to send Sterling higher.” This means the UK exchange rate could begin to improve again after struggling in recent weeks. Interest rates are also expected to stay the same following the weak week for the pound. Last month, interest rates were increased by the Bank of England’s (BoE) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) from 0.5 per cent to 0.75 per cent. This is nearly the highest in a decade, following the increase from 0.25 per cent to 0.5 per cent in November 2017. Brexit fears have prevented any further increases and could also have a negative impact on the UK manufacturing data set to be released today. The UK trade balance release is expected to report a widening to the national deficit.

Pound sterling soared to its highest figure in nearly two years today after Prime Minister Theresa May dropped a Brexit bombshell. The PM yesterday said she would offer MPs the chance to vote on Brexit being delayed if her deal and a no-deal was rejected. The news of Brexit being delayed and a no-deal possibly being wiped off the table sparked a leap in the pound to euro exchange rate today. GBP was trading at €1.172 against the euro at 11am today, according to Bloomberg – a high last reached early in 2017. Laura Parsons, currency analyst at TorFX, told Express.co.uk earlier today: “The Pound was bolstered by the news that PM Theresa May will offer MPs the chance to vote on delaying the UK’s departure from the EU if her deal is rejected again in March. “Sterling may continue trading in an elevated position today if investors remain confident that a no-deal Brexit can be avoided. “GBP/EUR closed out yesterday trading in the region of €1.164 – levels not seen since May 2017.” The rate increase delivers a huge respite for Brits planning summer holidays following the recent news many have been stockpiling their currency. Daily Star Online reported how Post Office Travel Money figures showed a sudden “strong demand” for euros as Britain nears leaving the EU. Euro sales were up 3% year-on-year in 2019 so far compared with January to mid-February in 2018, the figures given to the Press Association showed. Meanwhile sales of the euro also surged by 5% year-on-year in November and December 2018 compared with the same months in 2017. WWE ROYAL RUMBLE STORIES -

(16 Oct 2016) LEAD IN: Brexit has cast uncertainty over the future of thousands of British residents living in Spain's Costa del Sol. EU leaders are due soon to begin unprecedented - and knotty - negotiations on how to extricate the UK from the bloc. Some Britons living in Spain are considering changing nationality and brushing up on their Spanish language skills. STORY-LINE: A cloud of uncertainty hangs over British expats in Spain. Nobody is saying what the rights of Britons living in the EU might be in a future outside the bloc. Many are worried about losing entitlements in Spain, which is part of the EU. A dozen students, most of them British pensioners who have been living in the "Costa del Sol" for decades, have joined a new Spanish Nationality Course at the Parnell Academy in Mijas. They're learning the basics of the language, as well as some local history and culture, to prepare for two exams that must be taken ahead of being granted Spanish Nationality. "I really have no intention of going back to the UK", says Lesley Lawrence, one of the students, who has been living in Spain for around 20 years. "It's possible that I will change my nationality because of the Brexit vote", she adds. "It depends how things go after they trigger article 50, because until then we don't know how it's going to affect us." Another student Philip Hubner has owned a house in Spain for 17 years and moved to Mijas full time two years ago. He is now keen to mingle more with the local Spaniards. "I'm going to make a determined effort to learn the language to integrate with the local people here in Spain. I know a few words, I know how to buy...get a beer, "cerveza", …, "la cuenta por favor", could I have the bill?" The owner of the school, Richard Parnell, is familiar with both countries. He was born in Britain and has lived in Spain since he was 5 years old. After the Brexit result he started the course to help his fellow Brits living in Spain to cope with the long term implications. "I saw the fallout of the vote to leave and I knew that myself, as a foreigner living in Spain, I would have certain problems and I knew that there would be other people. I was thinking of opening an academy anyway, well, why not make a course that would make these people who need to learn Spanish and maybe help them get the Spanish nationality," he explains. The value of the British currency is another major concern. Many retired expats, live on a U.K. pension that is sent in pounds and pensioners must exchange that income to the Euro, which is used in Spain. The pound has lost almost a fifth of its value since June 23. Shortly after the Brexit vote, Anne Hernandez, a decades-long British resident in Mijas, co-founded the 'Brexpats in Spain' association, to try to address those fears. "Having met people come to us asking for help, we've identified a list of priorities and obviously everybody's individual, but there are general priorities, being for example: health care, pensions, finance and banking, education, and nationality," she says. The association currently has 2,800 members and has expanded outside the borders of Mijas to other towns along the coast. The local mayor's office estimates that there are 11,000 British residents in Mijas, out of a total population of 80,000, so the mayor takes a strong interest in their concerns. "When the results of the Brexit (referendum) were known, a big uncertainty was created. We're talking about the (local) economy, because it's tourism, residential tourism, and in the local administration this uncertainty creates a concern, because we know how important tourism is for us," he adds. There is only one deal and that deal won't be changed - the message from the European Commission President to Britain today, dealing a major blow to Theresa May's hopes of negotiating an "alternative arrangement" for the Irish border after Brexit. (Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe) Mrs May met the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn this afternoon for talks on the future described as "a useful exchange of views", although Europe's chief negotiator said he hoped the meeting would lead to something more than "only eating biscuits and drinking tea". ------- Watch more of our explainer series here - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...
