Exchange and Office 365 Mail Contact Import using PowerShell

13:42
Automates bulk import of mail contacts into Exchange and Office 365 / Exchange Online from a CSV file using a PowerShell script. Provides a PowerShell-based tool to import (and later remove if needed) mail contacts into Exchange server or Exchange Online/Office 365 from a properly-formatted CSV file. Leverages automatic Exchange discovery to minimize configuration and software requirements. While there are a number of scripts available that perform a similar import function, they often require extra inputs and are confusing to use. The aim here is to remove as much of the friction as possible. Simply drop the solution files onto an up-to-date Windows 7/8/2008 R2/2012+ machine, and you should be able to run the script right away. This script creates mail contacts in Exchange (which are really objects in the associated Active Directory domain) from records in a comma-separated values (CSV) format. Download the script and more here: https://automys.com/library/asset/exchange-and-office-365-mail-contact-import-using-powershell

How to export users from Active Directory and import them into Office 365

02:54
Exporting users from Active Directory is one of the basic administrative tasks. A user list, generated with the help of this tutorial, can help you, for example, in a migration project. This video shows how to do it step-by-step using Active Directory Users and Computers & PowerShell. Cmdlet to export the users list to a csv file: Get-ADUser -Filter 'GivenName -like "*"' -Properties * | Select -Property DisplayName,GivenName,Surname,UserPrincipalName,Title,Department,Office,OfficePhone,MobilePhone,Fax,StreetAddress,City,State,PostalCode,Country | Export-CSV "*LOCATION*" -NoTypeInformation -Encoding UTF8 The filter is set to get only the users which have the GivenName field populated. In most environments, it allows to exclude, for example, HealthMailboxes from the export. Before you import any data into Office 365, use Connect-MsolService and enter your credentials. Cmdlet to import users from the previously generated csv file into Office 365: Import-csv -path *LOCATION* | foreach {New-MsolUser -DisplayName $_.Name -FirstName $_.GivenName, -LastName $_.Surname -UserPrincipalName $_.UserPrincipalName -Title $_.Title } If you need any help connecting to Office 365 with PowerShell, the article below explains how to do it: https://www.codetwo.com/admins-blog/start-remote-powershell-session-connect-exchange-office-365/ If you look for a tool to help you with your migration project, check out CodeTwo Office 365 Migration: https://www.codetwo.com/office-365-migration
