The interesting story of our educational system | Adhitya Iyer | TEDxCRCE

17:43
A story surrounding more than a million students in India built around a booming IT industry, a machine like education system, a race to a seat amongst the top engineering colleges and student suicides in our system. The Indian education system in all its complexity has turned out to be one of the most fascinating educational stories in the world. Watch Adhitya Iyer in his talk share his travel around the country discovering the truth behind the common engineer in India. Adhitya Iyer completed his engineering degree from Mumbai University, where he studied in an institute interestingly named after Sardar Patel and was inaugurated by Nehru. He was listed as one of India's Top 30 student entrepreneurs by the NEN. He later spent 2 years in Bangalore selling chai, before he set out to write a non-fiction on the complex life of India's engineers is Kickstarter funded and is India's highest crowdfunded book. He thinks the society needs to be re-imagined and that humans can't be spending more than half their life doing something they seldom enjoy. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx

Prior to founding GoldieBlox, Debbie served as the Marketing Director of Lori Bonn, a national jewelry company. For the past 7 years, she has also served as a brand strategy consultant for a wide variety of organizations including Microsoft, T-Mobile, Organic Valley and the New York Knicks. She created a viral fundraising campaign called ""I Want a Goat,"" raising over $30,000 for economic and educational development in the region. This experience helped pave the way to finding her true passion: inspiring the next generation of female engineers. Debbie completed her degree in engineering at Stanford (Product Design, '05) and currently lives with her husband in San Francisco. The Chairman’s Bao is the first ever online Chinese newspaper, simplified for students who learn Mandarin. We aim to provide articles which are interesting, insightful and informative, as a means to improving the Mandarin learning experience. The Chairman’s Bao concept was created by students, for students. In our search for refreshing and innovative educational resources, we began writing topical articles as a method of learning Chinese. This basic concept transformed into The Chairman’s Bao, where articles are written by Native Chinese teachers in strict accordance with the HSK (National Chinese Proficiency Test) word listings. Each article clearly states the targeted HSK level, whilst also listing relevant grammatical structures, idioms and keywords. Our aim is to complement the current range of Mandarin educational resources with a fresh approach to language learning. Whether it be news, reviews, hints and tips to learn Mandarin, or guides to the HSK examination, we aim to have it all! We endeavor to bring you the most interesting and recent developments from around the globe, written in a format that will bring fresh impetus to your quest for fluency in Mandarin. We are always looking for new and interesting writers from all backgrounds. If interested, do not hesitate to contact us. As The Chairman’s Bao is a community website, please also feel free to contact us to offer any suggestions you have as to how we can improve the site. Articles (a, an, the) - Lesson 1 - 7 Rules For Using Articles Correctly - English Grammar

In this lesson, learn the 7 rules for using articles in English correctly. Also see - MOST COMMON MISTAKES IN ENGLISH & HOW TO AVOID THEM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Dax90QyXgI&list=PLmwr9polMHwsR35rD9spEhjFUFa7QblF9 For more FREE English lessons, SUBSCRIBE to this channel. Transcript: Hello and welcome. In this lesson, I will teach you the seven rules that you need to know for using articles in English correctly. Articles are the words ‘a’, ‘an’, and ‘the’. There is a final quiz at the end of the lesson for you to test your understanding. OK, the first rule is about where to use ‘a’ and where to use ‘an’. So rule number one is use ‘a’ before a consonant sound, and ‘an’ before a vowel sound. So in all of these words – you see that they start with a consonant sound. Cat starts with /k/, dog starts with /d/, boy with /b/, girl with /g/, house with /h/ and tree with /t/. So we say ‘a cat’, ‘a dog’, ‘a boy’, ‘a girl’, ‘a house’, ‘a tree’ etc. Notice that in natural speech, we don’t say ‘a’, we say ‘uh’ – like ‘a cat’. In this next set of words, you see that, they all start with a vowel sound – apple starts with /ae/, engineer starts with /e/, ice-cream with /ai/, old with /o/, umbrella with /uh/. So we say ‘an apple’, ‘an engineer’, ‘an ice-cream cone’, ‘an old womman’, ‘an umbrella’ and so on. In speech, we don’t say ‘an’, we say /ən/. Let’s do a small exercise. You see ten items on the screen. For each one, I want you to say if you would use ‘a’ or ‘an’ before it. Stop the video, think about it, then play the video again and check. OK here are the answers. Did you get them all right? I want to focus on items number seven to ten because these are a little tricky. Number seven is ‘a university’ because even though ‘university’ starts with the letter ‘u’ the first sound of the word is not a vowel sound. We don’t say /ooniversity/. We say /yoo-nə- vər-si-ty/ so that first sound is a /y/ sound, which a consonant sound, so we say ‘a university.’ Number eight is similar. The word ‘European’ starts with a /y/ sound, so ‘a European tour.’ In number nine, the spelling has an ‘h’ at the start but that ‘h’ is silent. We don’t say /hau-ər/, we say /au-ər/. The first sound is an /au/ sound which is a vowel sound, so this is ‘an hour’. In the same way, in number ten, we say MA. ‘M’ starts with an /e/ sound which is again a vowel sound, so ‘an MA in English’. OK let’s move on to rule number two: Use ‘a’ and ‘an’ ONLY with singular, countable nouns. We say that a noun is countable if we can count it – one, two, three, four etc. All of these words on the screen are countable. We can say one elephant, three cars, ten teachers, five hundred onions and so on. Now if you talk about one person or thing, like one elephant or one car, then that’s called a singular noun and if you say ten teachers or five hundred onions, those are called plural nouns. Uncountable nouns cannot be counted in this way. Nouns like water, sugar, milk, love, anger, knowledge are some examples. If you think about it, you cannot say “I drank four waters” or “I want eight milks”. To a person, you can say “I love you” but you can’t say “I have five loves for you” – that doesn’t make any sense. So these are all uncountable. Alright, so the rule is - you can only use ‘a’ and ‘an’ if you’re talking about one person or one thing. Let’s do another quick exercise. Here are ten items again. This time, you see ‘a’ or ‘an’ before the nouns, but some of these are wrong. They should NOT have ‘a’ or ‘an’ before them. Stop the video, identify the mistakes, then play the video again and check. OK, here are the answers. Number three is wrong because ‘shirts’ is a plural and you cannot use ‘a’ or ‘an’ before a plural noun. Number five is wrong because ‘happiness’ is uncountable, so again, ‘a’ or ‘an’ cannot be used there. The same goes for number six – water is uncountable. Number nine is wrong because ‘doctors’ is a plural – you can say ‘a doctor’ but not ‘a doctors’. And finally, in number ten, advice is an uncountable noun – so you cannot ask for ‘an advice’. Now a quick note here: the article ‘the’ can be used with all kinds of nouns – singular or plural countable nouns, and uncountable nouns. OK, so let’s now talk about how to choose between ‘a’ or ‘an’ and ‘the’. Here’s rule number three: Use ‘a’ or ‘an’ to talk about a person or thing unknown to your listener. And use ‘the’ to talk about a person or thing known to your listener. For example, “My sister has two computers: a PC and a laptop. The PC is quite old but the laptop is brand new.” I say ‘a PC’ and ‘a laptop’ because that’s the first time I’m mentioning the two computers. That is, until this point, they are unknown to you, the listener.

Pulley, Wheel, Lever and More Simple Machines - Science for Kids | Educational Videos by Mocomi

08:28
https://mocomi.com/ presents:Pulley, Wheel, Lever and More Simple Machines Mocomi brings to you an interesting compilation of simple machines. These simple machines use the fundamental law of forces and mechanics to carry out very simple movements. These in turn can be used to create machines that we see around us in our everyday lives. Do watch our interesting animations of pulleys, wheel and axle, levers, inclined planes, screw and wedge and learn simple science laws. Pulley is a simple machine and comprises of a wheel on a fixed axle, with a groove along the edges to guide a rope or cable. The “Wheel and axle” solves this problem in jiffy! The lever is one of the most basic forms of a machine. They help us lift loads with lesser effort. Even though this looks simple there are many things going on in order to lift the object easily. An inclined plane is a ramp that assists moving heavy objects up and down heights. It is a plane surface set at an angle, other than a right angle, against a horizontal surface. A screw is one of the most commonly used mechanical devices in the world. It is machine that converts rotational motion into linear motion. The wedge is the active twin of the inclined plane and one of the six classical simple machines. Unlike an inclined plane, which is stationary, a wedge does useful work by moving. Do enjoy and watch our other videos from Mocomi too! Top 10 Elon Musk Productivity Secrets for Insane Success | (Elon Musk Work Ethic)

But I think that us–mere mortals–can incorporate some of his productivity secrets into our daily lives. Here are the top 10 productivity secrets of Elon Musk work ethic and how you can apply them: #1 Start the Day with Critical Work As the CEO of three companies — Tesla, SpaceX, and Neuralink — Elon Musk has a lot of things to stay on top on a day to day basis. That’s why he starts his day with his most critical work. For Musk, this means dealing with important emails that he needs to address in order to unblock other people’s work and progress. #2 Use Feedback Loops An important part of Elon Musk work ethic is to incorporate not only his own feedback but also of others: he urges entrepreneurs to seek preferably negative feedback. While it might be hurtful at first, you normally end up getting a lot more out it. #3 Reason from First Principles A first principle is a basic assumption that can’t be deduced from any other proposition. It’s the only sure thing in a complex problem. Musk reasons from first principles, rather than by analogy (such as previous experiences). #4 Use Asynchronous Communication The first productivity hack gave you a slight hint for this one: Elon Musk work ethic dictates that he prefers to communicate on his own terms. That means defaulting to email and texts, both asynchronous ways of communication. #5 Master Communication When Musk is not building rockets or revolutionizing the automobile industry, there’s one place you can always find him: on email. He joked on a conference: “I do a lot of email — very good at email. That’s my core competency”. #6 Batch Tasks As part of Elon Musk work ethic, he multi-tasks strategically. Whenever possible, he combines several tasks together in a productivity hack known as batching. For example, he answers emails while eating or having a meeting over lunch. #7 Scheduling Running three companies is no small feat, which means time is of the essence for Elon Musk. He is constantly trying to optimize his time using feedback loops. #8 Embrace Stretch Goals Musk’s stretch goals have given us a world where one of the best cars you can buy is electric, and where we finally have reusable rockets: #9 Develop a Growth Mindset Elon Musk is never satisfied with where he is now. His companies have had enormous achievements, but Musk knows that there’s always room for improvement — in every area. There’s always a better, faster, or cheaper way to do things: #10 Develop a Wide Knowledge Base Over the years, Musk developed T-shaped skills: a lot of knowledge in one particular field and a substantial amount of knowledge in many other disciplines and topics. ► Check More Useful & Informative videos here: Top10 Skills for Success in Any Career https://youtu.be/lgeTUtVjuOM How Technology Controls Your Life and What to Do About It https://youtu.be/rIJFElNb5Kw How school fails us to train in the real world https://youtu.be/ryxh-Pd9dJU 13 Things You Should Give Up If You Want To Be Successful https://youtu.be/4R6bPYOpoiA Why Most People Remain in Mediocrity https://youtu.be/ewX_praM5tY 14 Ways to Make Your Brain Sharper https://youtu.be/qgZy1N4AB4M Next Industrial Revolution: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE https://youtu.be/ZX2JH2hu-Hg Incredible Technologies to Expect in the Near Future https://youtu.be/gzqpYeMUYCk What is Engineering https://youtu.be/I11y_FLlEp8 TEST: How Innovative Are You? https://youtu.be/cDboYz-0NJw Youtube channels that will make you smarter https://youtu.be/36w_dyZkK6c Highest Paying Jobs in the World https://youtu.be/TiAFqe9d4OQ 8 Jobs Every Company will be Hiring for by 2020 https://youtu.be/DdXLlJV6kM4 What is Electrical Engineering? https://youtu.be/6cEkZ-0uFPw 7 Most Important Skills for a Civil Engineer to Succeed https://youtu.be/HAx7E3Bu7gA 20 Cruel life lessons that will help you get to the next level of life https://youtu.be/VI89tXiJj48 This video is produced by Rahul Chavda and narrated by Reed Salan. -

Sell Me This Pen - Best Answer For Your Sales Interview

06:50
Optimize Yourself Financially - My Own Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR71N8450WI&list=PLXN0XO_WBISnCMZd_qDr1pfSAP50mq0M4 If you want to buy the pen I just sold a few boxes of to Elon Musk, you can get it here: http://amzn.to/2w7o6Nl If you're not happy with it I will definitely come in person to pick it up from you. Just email me at [email protected] Audible 30 day free trail: https://goo.gl/x64Vb9 Website: https://primedlifestyle.com/ Instagram: Primed Sell me this pen article: http://senatorclub.co/best-answer-to-sell-me-this-pen-i-have-ever-seen/ Sell me this pen is actually a very common demand when you go to a sales interview, and it’s not only something you see in movies. If you ever get asked this question, I want you to know exactly what to say. After watching this video, you will be able to not only convince the person asking, but blow them away with what you answer. So in this video, I will break down what to say when someone asks you to sell a pen, so you will be able to create a jaw dropping scene and crush any sales interview. when they ask this question, they will be able to see how good you are selling any product by your response. Your resume will come in second if you can demonstrate the art of selling, because that’s what it is. An art. There are four sales skills the person asking is looking for when you get asked to sell a pen. The following is the right framework so that you can respond perfectly every time. First, they want to see how well you gather information. Second, how well you respond to information. Third, how you deliver information. And last, how you ask for something, or how you close. You find out how they last used the pen, emphasize the importance of the activity they last used the pen for, sell something bigger than the pen, you know, get emotions involved. Then close it by making an offer he simply can’t decline. What if he says he’s not interested in buying your pen? Move on and realize you’re better off spending your time selling the pen to someone else. So just remember that you’re not selling the pen, but you’re demonstrating how well you can sell a product and if you master the framework and the art of selling. If you think this might help just one person in sales, please share the video with them.
