What is STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM? What does STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM mean? STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM meaning - STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM definition - STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. A student exchange program is a program in which students from a secondary school or university study abroad at one of their institution's partner institutions. A student exchange program may involve international travel, but does not necessarily require the student to study outside of his or her home country. For example, the National Student Exchange program (NSE) offers placements throughout the United States and Canada. Foreign exchange programs provides students with an opportunity to study in a different country and environment experiencing the history and culture of another country. The term "exchange" means that a partner institution accepts a student, but does not necessarily mean that the students have to find a counterpart from the other institution with whom to exchange. Exchange students live with a host family or in a designated place such as a hostel, an apartment, or a student lodging. Costs for the program vary by the country and institution. Participants fund their participation via scholarships, loans, or self-funding. Student exchanges became popular after World War II, and are intended to increase the participants' understanding and tolerance of other cultures, as well as improving their language skills and broadening their social horizons. Student exchanges also increased further after the end of the Cold War. An exchange student typically stays in the host country for a period of 6 to 10 months. International students or those on study abroad programs may stay in the host country for several years. Some exchange programs also offer academic credit.

Why go on Exchange? ........Benefits of Exchange!
Give your students a true education abroad experience, the most enjoyable and by far the best way to learn is to do so on an immersion program. In this way, the students gets totally immersed in the language, community, culture and settings of visiting places, which greatly speeds up the learning process. This excellent learning opportunity typically leaves the student with better understanding for people of all sorts, and can really make young people feel as though they have become “Citizens of the World.” While on an International Exchange Program students have the opportunity to learn at an international school, experience another culture, immerse themselves in the language and become a member of the host family. Foreign Exchange Student's Opinion of America
Over the 2013-2014 school year I got to know one of my school's foreign exchange students from the Czech Republic. Matej was an awesome dude, and it was pretty cool getting to know someone who was literally from the other side of the world. Anyway, I thought it'd be cool to film an interview with him so I could see what he really thought of the US, so I did. Also, I made sure to film it on one of his last days in America so he would actually give his real opinions.

How Exchange Rates Work
● We explain topics simply. So Subscribe if you want to learn while being entertained. ✔ Please like the video and comment if you enjoyed - it helps a lot! ▶ If you want a question answered then ask in the comments and we may make a video about it! About the video: You may have traveled a lot and wondered why you get more of one currency when you exchange it for another. If so, you have witnessed exchange rates in action, but do you know how they work? Watch the video to find out what exchange rates are, how to convert between them and the different systems which determine a currencies exchange rate. Historically the gold standard system had been used, which fixed currency to a select value of gold, held in a vault. The three main systems are the floating, managed and fixed exchange rate systems. The floating system has minimal government intervention, using supply and demand to determine the exchange rate. The managed exchange rate is allowed to be within a permitted band and a fixed exchange rate is usually pegged to a currency with the interest of being competitive in the international market. The video explains this in more detail and with helpful picture to guide you through the subject.

International Student Exchanges: Remarks by Assistant Secretary Stock
Today, we launch International Education Week with the release of the 2010 Open Doors annual report on international student mobility. International education is an economic and strategic imperative for the United States. The Open Doors report reaffirms America as the preferred destination for international students looking for an outstanding education. International enrollments in U.S. higher education institutions are at the highest levels ever. The benefits of these exchanges can be seen both at home and abroad. In the last academic year alone, nearly 700,000 international students attended our colleges and universities adding nearly $20 billion to the American economy. And after their studies here, these students return home to become leaders who understand our society and values. In turn, as Americans study abroad in a growing number of countries, they are better prepared to compete in a global economy. Last week, in speaking about exchanges, our Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, said it best, "Diplomacy does not just happen between government officials. It also happens between individuals, through people to people connections and student exchanges. These are some of the most important people to people connections we can have. For hundreds of thousands of students each year, exchanges promote mutual understanding and bring people of different nations together to share ideas and compare values. They also nurture leadership skills that prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century. The Department of State remains committed to these exchanges and we strongly support expanding study abroad opportunities to a diverse range of communities so that talented students around the world can tap into the power and possibility of international exchanges." During International Education Week, the State Department is highlighting the importance of study abroad opportunities, like the Gilman Scholarship for students from diverse backgrounds. Because of limited financial resources, these students have often not taken part in exchange programs. Earlier this morning, I met with five Gilman Scholars, who studied in Egypt, India, Japan, Jordan and Spain. Please stand and be recognized. This scholarship, named for the distinguished former New York Congressman Benjamin Gilman, supports study abroad for American undergraduates. Since its inception in 2001, nearly 8,800 scholarships have been awarded to students representing 894 colleges and universities in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. They studied in 116 countries world worldwide. Participation in the Gilman program from African-American, Latino, and Asian communities is two to three times greater than other U.S. study abroad programs. Nearly half of the Gilman scholars are first-generation college students. I know how important this is; I was the first person in my family to go to college. I also met with five "Opportunity" scholars from Brazil, Malaysia, Russia, South Africa, and Yemen who studied biometrics, biology, engineering and international relations. Please stand and be recognized. This program provides talented international students with a way to apply for and pursue a college education in America. Going forward, the Department of State will continue to seek ways to increase these vital people to people exchanges. I invite colleges, universities and community colleges throughout the United States to join our efforts. Encourage your students to apply for Fulbright and Gilman scholarships. Support your faculty members in applying for Fulbright awards. Sign up to host visiting scholars. Connect with our global EducationUSA advising network. These advisors are eager to create strategies to recruit international students and to develop study abroad programs. This is an opportunity for American and international students to work, study, and learn together. Thank you.

IFMSA SCOPE / SCORE Exchange - Sultanate Of Oman
Standing Committee on Professional Exchange was in the centre when International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations was created in 1951. The exchange program started with 8 European countries and has since then expanded to include 90 countries. Through these 60 years 232.000 medical students have exchanged with SCOPE and with more than 8500 students exchanging per year, it is now the largest student-run exchange program in the world. The main purpose of the SCOPE exchange program is "to promote the cultural understanding and the cooperation among medical students and other health professionals, through international exchanges.” It is a quality educational and cultural experience organised entirely by medical students with the help of their medical faculties. SCOPE offers medical students worldwide an opportunity to experience medicine in another culture and health system, ultimately making them more sensitive to the differences in healthcare across the globe. The Standing Committee on Research Exchange (SCORE) seeks to give medical students across the world the opportunity to gain exposure to medical training in other countries. All exchanges are initiated and coordinated entirely by medical student volunteers. Every university is represented by a Local Officer on Research Exchange (LORE), who facilitates projects at the local level and arranges for the exchange students‘ preparations such like housing and boarding. Every exchange student is assigned a local contact person who serves as a guide, resource, and social liaison, the thing that strengthens the intercultural communication, understanding, and unity among medical students worldwide. "The mission of SCORE is to offer future physicians an opportunity to experience research work and the diversity of countries all over the world. This is achieved by providing a network of locally and internationally active students that globally facilitate access to research exchange projects. Through our programming and opportunities, we aim to “develop both culturally sensitive students and skilled researchers intent on shaping the world of science in the upcoming future.”
