This tutorial explains the following: - what the blocks are in the blockchain - what data does a block contains - what a block number and block height is - what a genesis block is - what a main chain, side fork or orphaned forks are - what miners are and their purpose - what a coinbase transaction is and how Bitcoins are created - there will be maximum 21 million Bitcoins - what a block reward is - what block reward halving is - what a hash puzzle is In this video series different topics will be explained which will help you to understand blockchain. Bitcoin released as open source software in 2009 is a cryptocurrency invented by Satoshi Nakamoto (unidentified person or group of persons). After the introduction of Bitcoin many Bitcoin alternatives were created. These alternate cryptocurrencies are called Altcoins (Litecoin, Dodgecoin etc). Bitcoin's underlying technology is called Blockchain. The Blockchain is a distributed decentralized incorruptible database (ledger) that records blocks of digital information. Each block contains a timestamp and a link to a previous block. Soon people realises that there many other use cases where the Blockchain technology can be applied and not just as a cryptocurrency application. New Blockchain platforms were created based on the Blockchain technology, one of which is called Ethereum. Ethereum focuses on running programming code, called smart contracts, on any decentralized application. Using the new Blockchain platforms, Blockchain technology can be used in supply chain management, healthcare, real estate, identity management, voting, internet of things, etcetera, just to name a few. Today there is a growing interest in Blockchain not only in the financial sector but also in other sectors. Explaining how Blockchain works is not easy and for many the Blockchain technology remains an elusive concept. This video series tries to explain Blockchain to a large audience but from the bottom up. Keywords often used in Blockchain conversation will be explained. This Video shows the demonstration of “Online Auction Using Shill Bidding Prevention”. Human cheating has been a barrier to establishing trust among e-commerce users, throughout the last two decades. In particular, in online auctions, since all the transactions occur among anonymous users, trust is difficult to establish and maintain. At present, shill bidding is the most severe and persistent form of cheating in online auctions, but still there are only a few or no established techniques for shill defense at run-time. Evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of existing approaches to combating shill bidding. Proposed system prevents shilling activities by monitoring bidding behavior and user history. IP tracking techniques are proposed to detect shilling. The system also takes necessary actions against shill activities at run-time. The experimental results demonstrate that, by prevention, detection and response mechanisms, the proposed auction system keeps the auction users secured from shill bidding and therefore establishes trust among online auction users. Sellers may find lower prices where their items are sold at auctions which potential bidders are avoiding. Information is the key. That is why the US Information Awareness Office's (IAO) motto is "scientia est potential", which means "knowledge is power". The IAO just like the CIA, FBI and others make information their business. Aside from these there are multiple military related projects like TALON,ECHELON, ADVISE, and MATRIX that are concerned with information gathering and analysis. The goal of the Veritas Project is to model itself in the same general threat intelligence premise as the organization above but primarily based on community sharing approach and using tools, technologies, and techniques that are freely available. Often, concepts that are part of artificial intelligence, data mining, and text mining are thought to be highly complex and difficult. Don't mistake me, these concepts are indeed difficult, but there are tools out there that would facilitate the use of these techniques without having to learn all the concepts and math behind these topics. And as sir Isaac Newton once said, "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants". The combination of all the techniques presented in this site is what we call "Guerrilla Data Mining". It's supposed to be fast, easy, and accessible to anyone. The techniques provides more emphasis on practicality than theory. For example, these tools and techniques presented can be used to visualize trends (e.g. security trends over time), summarize large and diverse data sets (forums, blogs, irc), find commonalities (e.g. profiles of computer criminals) gather a high level understanding of a topic (e.g. the US economy, military activities), and automatically categorize different topics to assist research (e.g. malware taxonomy). Aside from the framework and techniques themselves, the Veritas Project hopes to present a number of current ongoing studies that uses "guerilla data mining". Ultimately, our goal is to provide as much information in how each study was done so other people can generate their own studies and share them through the project. This talk will describe recent work by the NASA Data Sciences Group on data-driven anomaly detection applied to air traffic control over Los Angeles, Denver, and New York. This data mining approach is designed to discover operationally significant flight anomalies, which were not pre-defined. These methods are complementary to traditional exceedance-based methods, in that they are more likely to yield false alarms, but they are also more likely to find previously-unknown anomalies. We discuss the discoveries that our algorithms have made that exceedance-based methods did not identify. Nikunj Oza is the leader of the Data Sciences Group at NASA Ames Research Center. He also leads a NASA project team which applies data mining to aviation safety. Dr. Ozaąs 40+ research papers represent his research interests which include data mining, machine learning, anomaly detection, and their applications to Aeronautics and Earth Science. He received the Arch T. Colwell Award for co-authoring one of the five most innovative technical papers selected from 3300+ SAE technical papers in 2005. His data mining team received the 2010 NASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate Associate Administratorąs Award for best technology achievements by a team. He received his B.S. in Mathematics with Computer Science from MIT in 1994, and M.S. (in 1998) and Ph.D. (in 2001) in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.

Text mining has a large variety of applications and is becoming used in more businesses for gathering intelligence and providing insight. People are sending text constantly online via social media, chat rooms and blogs. Tapping into this information can help businesses gain an advantage and is increasingly a necessary skill for data analytics. Text mining is a unique data mining problem, dealing with real world data that is often heavy on artefacts, difficult to model and challenging to properly manage. Text mining can be seen as a bit of a dark art that is difficult to learn and gain traction. However some basic strategies can often be applied to get good results quite quickly, and the same basic models appear in many text mining challenges. The scikit-learn project is a library of machine learning algorithms for the scientific python stack (numpy & scipy). It is known for having detailed documentation, a high quality of coding and a growing list of users worldwide. The documentation includes tutorials for learning machine learning as well as the library and is a great place to start for beginners wanting to learn data analytics. There is a strong focus on reusable components and useful algorithms, and the text mining sections of scikit-learn follow the “standard model” of text mining quite well. In this presentation, we will go through the scikit-learn project for machine learning and show how to use it for text mining applications. Real world data and applications will be used, including spam detection on Twitter, predicting the author of a program and determining a user's political bent based on their social media account. Title: Data mining without "==": mining discriminative patches from unlabeled and weakly-labeled image collections Speaker: Carl Doersch Abstract Datamining--i.e. finding repeated, informative patterns in large datasets--has proven extremely difficult for visual data. A key issue in visual data mining is the lack of a reliable way to tell whether two images or image patches even depict the same thing. In this talk, I'll cover two recent works which can successfully mine discriminative sets of image patches in both weakly-supervised and fully unsupervised settings. Our first work proposes discriminative mode seeking, an extension of Mean Shift to weakly-labeled data. Instead of finding the local maxima of a density, we exploit the weak label to partition the data into two sets and find the maxima of the density ratio. Given a dataset of image patches, and weak labels such as scene categories, these 'discriminative modes' correspond to remarkably meaningful visual patterns, including objects and object parts. Using these discriminative patches as an image representation, we obtain state-of-the-art results on a challenging indoor scene classification benchmark. In the second part of the talk, I will discuss how we can extend this formulation to a fully unsupervised setting. Instead of using weak labels as supervision, we use the ability of an object patch to predict the rest of the object (its context) as supervisory signal to help discover visually consistent object clusters. The proposed method outperforms previous unsupervised as well as weakly-supervised object discovery approaches, and is shown to provide correspondences detailed enough to transfer keypoint annotations, even for extremely difficult datasets intended for benchmarking fully supervised object detection algorithms (e.g. Pascal VOC).
