“How do I Start a Cleaning Business?”
This was a question that I found myself asking in July of 2013, and apparently this is a question that you are now asking yourself.
Over the next 3 weeks of our Episodes – “How Do I Clean?” We are going to discuss how to start a cleaning business and how to grow it.
“Why Don’t You Start a Cleaning Business??”
I have a really good friend named Travis. He is like a brother to me, and he owns a property management company in the Metro Atlanta Market named Lighthouse Property Management.
So, Travis suggested that I Start a Cleaning Business. He said there was a huge need in the Rental Property Market 1sachafor vacant home cleaners.
“Me, a Business Owner. No Way!”
However, after being turned down again, and again, and again, and again, “Starting a Cleaning Company” didn’t sound like such a bad idea.
One Day Travis offered me two houses to clean that he was managing. He said he would give me $500 to clean and do touch up paint on the homes. So, I said yes. To say I was “inexperienced” would be the understatement of the year. But, Travis said I could do it, and it felt good to have somebody who believed in me.
The 2 homes were 90 miles from my home in Athens, but I didn’t care, I was going to work!!! I did not get back home until 1 am. I remember standing in my kitchen. Jessica and the kids were already in bed. I stood next to the old brown counter top, and I stared at the check I had just earned. I had earned $500. It wasn’t a government handout; it was from work that I had done with my own hands.
It felt soooooooooo good to earn money again.
I decided that I would start a cleaning business.
The Journey Continues
At this point in the “story,” you would expect me to give the happy ending – “I went on to make millions!”
Jessica will tell you quickly, that that isn’t true.
But, by the Grace of God, and a TON of hard work, I have survived the treacherous first 3 years of being an Entrepreneur. I have seen my revenue grow from:
2016: Projected total Revenue – $120,000 to $125,000.
I will be the first to scream its a journey. I still make mistakes. I still misquote jobs and lose money. To put it short, I am still learning, but I have HUGE plans for TurnClean Services
One of the plans is to grow this site, www.turncleanservices.com , into a destination site for cleaners. I think there will be a world of opportunity for a site that has a niche audience.
It is my hope that you will find our Blog – “How Do I Clean?” to be both entertaining and helpful. We will discuss “How Do I Clean?” in the technical since, and we will discuss “How Do I Clean?” from a perspective of building your business.
I look forward to traveling this journey with you.
