Electronic Records Archives in Action

03:37
The National Archives is now changing the way we take custody of records from federal agencies. We are now using the Electronic Records Archives, or ERA. ERA is not only a system for storing electronic records. We are currently transferring permanent textual records on a daily basis using ERA. The Department of the Navy demonstrates how ERA was used to transfer deck logs to the legal and physical custody of the National Archives. ERA replaces a paper-based system that could take months.

From stump to ship: A 1930 logging film

27:56
ARC Identifier 13585 / Local Identifier 95.287 - Department of Agriculture. Forest Service. Division of State and Private Forestry. Fire and Aviation Management Staff. (1986) - 1930 - The long log drive: a spring journey down icy streams and rivers moving logs from the forest to the mill for sawing into boards, laths, and clapboards. For more than 150 years, logging techniques remained the same. Men cut trees by hand and loaded them on horse-drawn sleds to be hauled over snow to the river. Skilled river drivers maneuvered the logs downstream, risking their limbs and lives every day. This film survives as a record of the long log business. Highly detailed scenes, filmed year-round, are uniquely enhanced by the original script, written to be read with the silent footage in the 1930s. The soundtrack is brought to life by Tim Sample, narrator and renowned Maine humorist, in the role of the filmmaker, Alfred Ames. - Copied by Thomas Gideon

Microtek solution of Herbarium specimen digitization and archive management

02:04
To significantly solve digitization inefficiency common to the global herbaria museums, Microtek launches a workstation consisting of ObjectScan 1600 scanner, ScanWizard_Botany software, and MiVapp_Botany archive management system. This integrated workstation is characterized by, (1) On-top scan design for full-frame focus, (2) 1600 dpi (equal to 1 Gigabyte pixels) color CCD, (3) Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for specimen label and 1D barcode, and (4) image archive and privileged-account cloud management system. Both software and management system provide intuitive interface for non-IT herbarium curators and botanists, especially for herbarium inexperienced volunteers. The database structure follows JSTOR principle in order for the file exchange convenience between herbaria. Further, MiVapp_Botany can unit global academic efforts to speed up verification rate on image quality and metadata by offering remote log-in entry service. Under ideal set-up, this workstation can digitize 500,000 – 800,000 specimen per year where cost will be less than 5 USD for each specimen. Thank you for the review by MicroTek

Media Asset Management and Kyno

04:25
What is Media Asset Management? At its core, Media Asset Managers (MAM) allow you to log, filter, and move around your digital media. It becomes especially helpful when working on a Jellyfish server with a team across multiple projects at once. At LumaForge, we discovered we needed a MAM when we started scaling our video editing team. It became unmanageable for only one person on the team to know where all of our footage was kept. So we started a journey to find a MAM that worked for us. We found that most options are difficult to setup, often require a separate computer to run their database, and are not easy to use. Then we found Kyno by Lesspain Software. Unlike the others, Kyno creates an index on your storage that can be seen by any computer connected to your Jellyfish server. All you have to do to set up a user is to download Kyno. Once we downloaded Kyno for each user, we were immediately able to start logging footage on multiple machines at once. As we started adding tags, Kyno created a list in the background. When we started typing a new tag, Kyno would suggest tags that the other users had already used. This kept us from doubling or tripling tags for a single subject. Kyno integrates with Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere Pro CC, and DaVinci Resolve 15. The metadata entered in Kyno can be passed to all three NLEs. Tags come into FCPX as Keyword Collections. Subclips come into FCPX as Keyword Ranges, and as Markers with duration in Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. If you have a Jellyfish and are sharing a media archive with your team, Kyno is a great tool for organizing your media so you can find it quickly and efficiently. For super easy collaborative video storage, check out the LumaForge Jellyfish. https://lumaforge.com/jellyfish/ Don't forget to Subscribe for more presentations from the Faster, Together Stage. Documents, records and records management - James Vesper

10:43
James Vesper reviews the critical aspects of documents, records and record management. Documents like procedures, protocols, methods, and specifications provide instructions so people can perform tasks and make decisions safely, effectively, compliantly, and consistently. Records, such as batch manufacturing records, cleaning logs, and laboratory data sheets and notebooks provide evidence that actions were taken and decisions were (hopefully) made in keeping with procedures and GMP expectations. Reports, another type of documentation, provide specific information on a particular topic (like an investigation or one aspect of product development) in a formal, standardized way.

CA Database Management for DB2 for z/OS Log Accumulation & Change Accumulation

With CA Merge/Modify for Db2 for z/OS , you can merge incremental image copies with full image copies and apply changes from the archive and active DB2 logs to create up-to-date image copies - all without impacting live database objects. Two components of CA Merge/Modify make this possible. With the Log Accumulation component, you can create consistent full image copies of table spaces, LOBs, and indexes which is useful when Minimal or no outage time is tolerated for the purpose of creating backups. · Log Accumulation Processing · How to create a New Full Image Copy Using Log Accumulation LOG-BACKUP YES · How to create Continuous Full Image Copies With the Change Accumulation Component, you can extract log records from multiple DB2 logs or change accumulation logs into a single compact data set containing only recovery type log records for the tablespaces or indexspaces you specify (down to the partition level). · Using Change Accumulation · Change Accumulate - Strategy Services ISPF · How to Create and Execute Change Accumulation Strategy · Few words about how to Use Change Accumulation with Log Accumulation and CA Fast Recover

Real Time Event log Management and Monitoring Tools & Software

00:52
https://tntsoftware.com - Event logs are the richest source of management data on the Windows platform. This information is required to securely and efficiently operate critical servers. Unfortunately, the event logs are isolated locally. Instead of taking advantage of their real-time posting, they are only used in forensic investigations. ELM Enterprise Manager elevates Windows event log monitoring to real-time. Events logs are reliably collected seconds after they are written. The data, including the detail text, is transmitted by local Agents to the ELM Server. From there, it is securely inserted in a MS SQL database. Management of Windows servers takes urgency. One minute they are supporting network security and processing critical applications. And the next, they are compromised by a disgruntled employee or a bottleneck to productivity. Fortunately, many of these out-of bounds conditions are recorded in the event logs. But not all. When event log monitoring is not enough. ELM Enterprise Manager extends the scope to include performance threshold monitoring.
