'Badwater' Industrial Complex and/or Mining Operation on Mars

The photographs analyzed here (ESP_026795_1470 and P16_007438_1462_XN_33S297W) were taken by NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter on 14 April 2012 and 27 February 2008 respectively. NASA describes the photographs as "Central Structure of an Impact Crater" and "Hellas Planitia" respectively. Discovered is what looks like either an abandoned industrial complex and/or mining operation in Badwater Crater. The straight sides of a typical rectangular-shaped surface feature measures on average approximately 200 metres in length. Could this have been an ancient site where some type of industrial/mining operations were conducted? There seems to be some differences in the two photographs possibly indicating activity on the surface. Original NASA source: HiRISE: https://www.uahirise.org/ESP_026795_1470 CTX: http://viewer.mars.asu.edu/planetview/inst/ctx/P16_007438_1462_XN_33S297W My Blog Post featuring the 'Badwater' Industrial Complex or Mining Operation on Mars: http://mars.raptorzone.co.za/2018/05/30/badwater-industrial-complex-and-or-mining-operation-on-mars/ This anomaly reminds me of another similar type of structure I discovered in an area (D04_028911_0985_XN_81S064W and ESP_021526_0985) approximately 3687 km to the South, although the structures there are much larger. My previous Blog Post featuring a similar structure: http://mars.raptorzone.co.za/2018/05/25/ancient-inca-type-ruins-retaining-walls-or-farm-found-on-mars/ My previous video featuring featuring a similar structure: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ta3mQ9h-wgc Please comment below and let me know what you think. The image scale indicators I include in images are based on the official resolutions provided by NASA and although I strive to be as accurate as possible there may be slight deviations from the actual scale. Image scale indicators are included as a size approximation tool only. Ley lines are mapped as accurately as possible using the limited information, data and mapping tools available at the time, therefore the ley lines may deviate from target sites by a few kilometres. Revisions may be made in the future as new, more precise information, data and mapping tools become available. Many or all of the anomalies/artefacts covered in this presentation may be naturally occurring geological features caused by some type of geological processes, however due to the lack of specific information from the source we can only speculate whether these are all natural or some artificial in nature. In cases where I say an anomaly looks like something I’m attempting to clarify what I see and not specifically that the anomaly is what I say it looks like. My intention is only to share anomalies I’ve discovered on Mars and not to convince anyone that there is or was a civilization on Mars. OEMF2015 - Day 2 - Dr Jonathan Clarke - Mining Mars

17:41
For more info on the 2nd Off Earth Mining Forum see http://www.acser.unsw.edu.au/oemf2015 - Mining Mars Mars offers many opportunities for using in situ resources to reduce the logistic overhead of human missions to the planet. Recent discoveries confirm that Mars has an abundance of water, a history of magmatism, basin development, fluid migration, regolith processes, and evolved granitoid crust that have resulted in observed localised enrichment in potential resources. Use of these potential resources would greatly facilitate Mars exploration and perhaps subsequent settlement. Identifying potential resources is therefore a priority for NASA landing site selection. Split-mission architectures may provide opportunities for commercially funded automated extraction and stockpiling of water, propellants, breathing gases, and perhaps regolith resources before the arrival of crew. Subsequent opportunities at permanent Mars research stations include fabrication of basic structures from regolith resources such as basalt and gypsum, and research into extraction of iron and magnesium. and use of hydrothermal silica and clays. Localised enrichment in base metals have been observed and potential exists for future discovery of sulphide mineralisation. These resources would not be for the development of export industries, but to support development of Mars-based infrastructure and settlement. Australian expertise in all the related fields of resource geology, exploration geophysics and geochemistry, remote area operations, mining, metallurgy, field robotics has an opportunity to make a significant contribution in the field of Mars resource utilisation at an early stage. Experience with the development of good legal frameworks for exploration, development, taxation, and environmental protection in Australia may also aid in shaping the current poorly defined legal framework for martian resources. --- Jon is an astrogeologist who completed his undergraduate and honours degree at the University of Tasmania and a PhD at Flinders University. He with a broad background in the resource, university and government sectors. Jon has spent 13 years in mineral exploration with Comalco, Seltrust, and WMC Resources with particular involvement in nickel, copper, gold, diamonds and zinc exploration in WA, SA, NT, QLD, The Philippines, and Chile. He has been associated with Melbourne and the Australian National Universities and with the Australian Centre for Astrobiology. Most recently Jon spent 11 years with Geoscience Australia working in groundwater, salinity management, and precompetitive mineral exploration . He is the current president and research director of Mars Society Australia (MSA), a non-profit approved research institute. Through MSA Jon has been researching Mars mission architecture, exploration strategies, geomorphology, analogues, and potential mineral resources, as well as education and outreach programs.

Unnatural ACTIVITY on Mars (mining equipment, discs & triangular craft)

26:22
Image (P03_002112_2208_XN_40N337W) was taken by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) Context Camera (CTX) on 2007-01-08T00:38:33.833. NASA describes this as an image as "Deuteronilus Colles and surrounding landforms." I discovered what I think are active mining operations on Mars, the excavation of huge stone monolith, hollowed out shelters or hangers and three disc-like craft (UFO's), a triangular craft (TR-3B type) and mining machinery. Seen are what I perceive to be open-pit mining quarry's with dust clouds in and around the mines. The mere presence of dust clouds implies that these mines are likely active. The "machine" might be mining the side of hill. Who knows what's happening here ... wow? I missed a few anomalies in the video (check out the links to my Blog below). Original NASA source: http://viewer.mars.asu.edu/planetview/inst/ctx/P03_002112_2208_XN_40N337W I used NASA's image viewer to the left of the page to view these anomalies. Living on Mars: A 4-step guide for humans | Michio Kaku

04:21
If you're interested in licensing this or any other Big Think clip for commercial or private use, contact our licensing partner Executive Interviews: https://www.executiveinterviews.biz/rightsholders/bigthink/ Physicist Michio Kaku discusses the main difficulties humans face in colonizing Mars and how to overcome them. Read more at BigThink.com: https://bigthink.com/videos/michio-kaku-living-on-mars-a-4-step-guide-for-humans Follow Big Think here: YouTube: http://goo.gl/CPTsV5 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BigThinkdotcom Twitter: https://twitter.com/bigthink Well, the question is, if we’re entering a new “golden age” of space exploration what is the main bottleneck that we face? The main bottleneck has to do with life support and the human. See, we’ve already sent robots to Mars. We’ve already sent objects the size of a bus to the planet Mars, but now we’re talking about humans, which require a whole support network, and so we have to realize that things that we don’t even consider at all with the robots become central and a bottleneck for humans. Humans will have to live in an environment where there’s radiation; where there’s loneliness; where the journey can take two years; where temperatures are below freezing; where the atmospheric pressure is only one percent the atmospheric pressure on the planet Earth, and eventually we want to create a base there. We’re not going to go there just to plant the flag and come back and crow about it, no! We want a self-sustaining planet, a base on Mars that can support people. This means it has to be done in several steps. The first step would be to create a base on Mars with power. Solar power could provide the energy, and lava tubes, underground lava tubes might be able to provide caves by which astronauts could live and create the first outposts underground. That’s the way it was done in the movie 2001 [A Space Odyssey]. The moon base on the moon in that movie was underground, providing a natural barrier to radiation. And then once you have the base set up you have to begin the process of creating a self-sustaining agriculture there. I mean what are you going to eat on Mars? You can’t order a hamburger, because everything has to be shipped from the planet Earth. You want to create an agriculture and this means genetic engineering. This means creating genetically-modified algae and plants that can consume the rich carbon dioxide atmosphere, live in a very cold environment, and thrive. We’re going to have to genetically modify our plants so that we can create an agriculture so that it is self-sustaining on Mars. Then we have to create mining operations. We have to mine the ice. Ice can provide oxygen for breathing, water for drinking, and hydrogen for rocket fuel. And so we have to begin a mining operation so that we have the materials to build cities, materials to build bases, oxygen to breathe, water to drink, and hydrogen for rocket fuel. Then the last step in the process—and this will take maybe another hundred years—is to send satellites orbiting around Mars to begin the process of melting the polar ice caps. This is called space solar power. We have the blueprints already; the problem is cost. But the costs are dropping for sending payloads into outer space—dramatically—and so people are once again dusting off these old plans to create satellites around Mars that can beam energy and begin the process of melting the ice caps. Now, once you raise the temperature of Mars by about six degrees, once the temperature of Mars rises six degrees it becomes autocatalytic, it takes off, it becomes self-feeding, because the more heat you have on Mars the more carbon dioxide you loft into the atmosphere, which creates more greenhouse effect, which allows you to melt even more ice to raise the temperature even more, so you have a positive feedback loop. The question is: can we reach six degrees? That’s the key point. If we can raise the surface temperature of Mars by six degrees we can create this artificial spiral by which it feeds on itself and we can begin the process of terraforming Mars. And so remember: robots don’t need terraforming, humans do. And so to make Mars suitable for humans that’s going to be the big problem.

[OEMF2017] Adapting open pit mining optimisation techniques to Martian mining for water extraction

17:39
20-21 September 2017 http://www.acser.unsw.edu.au/oemf2017 Carlos Tapia Cortez UNSW Sydney Adapting open pit mining optimisation techniques to design Martian mining missions for water extraction Colossal efforts carried out by international space agencies such as NASA to expand exploration and research in the solar system have also expanded the frontiers of mineral resources exploration to asteroids, the Moon and Mars. It is likely that mining activities will no longer focus on Earth exclusively in the near future but also celestial bodies will be attractive targets for the mining industry due to the necessity to sustain space colonies. Assuring the survival of human crews during extended missions is crucial for the success of Mars colonisation programs. As a result, in-situ resources utilisation of mineral commodities is crucial and water production the most. Water is fundamental to ensure life; therefore, a strategic mineral commodity on space and due to its indispensable nature it can also be the Martian currency. Similar than terrestrial operations, Mars mining activities should also face a number of uncertainties regarding mineral resources as well as technical and financial restrictions such as investment, production rate and fleet capacity. Adapting open pit mining and fleet dimensioning optimisation techniques provide an accurate framework to assess uncertainties, simulate Martian mining operations and properly design the required water extraction method and associated fleets to support explorations crews and colonies in the red planet. This presentation introduces the adaptation of open pit mining production and fleet optimisation techniques to simulate, optimise and assess the performance of Martian mining operations from a conceptual engineering point of view in a simple but comprehensive computational tool so called Water Extraction Mars Mining Model (WEM3). It also shows and discusses technical recommendations obtained from WEM3 to design the more suitable mining methods and fleets to support an efficient water supply to allow human life in the red planet. Carlos Tapia Cortez is a PhD candidate at the School of Mining Engineering at UNSW. He received his BSc in Mining Engineering from the University of Atacama, Chile. OEMF2015 - Day 2 - Student Session - Carlos Tapia Cortez - Water Extraction - Mars Mining Model

17:54
For more info on the 2nd Off Earth Mining Forum see http://www.acser.unsw.edu.au/oemf2015 Session Chair: Dr Naomi Tsafnat, ACSER/UNSW Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Naomi Tsafnat is a Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering where she teaches orbital mechanics and spacecraft engineering. Her current research projects include the design of asteroid capture and bio-mining missions, and the study of bio-mimetic approaches to aerospace engineering. Dr Tsafnat has worked in the US at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space in satellite thermal design and analysis, and was involved in various projects with NASA Ames Research Center. Dr Tsafnat supervises a PhD student and several undergraduate honours thesis students in space engineering projects, including QB50 and SMiLE. - Water Extraction - Mars’ Mining Model (WEM³) Since ancient times, natural resources have been crucial to human exploration and colonisation. A new Off-Earth exploration era started almost half century ago when NASA conducted the first exploration mission to Mars. The agency is planning to send two new lander/rover missions in 2016 and 2020 to drilling and sampling the surface of the red planet to assess available resources and technological requirements to establish future colonies. This presentation examines the main structure and key finding of the so-called Water Extraction-Mars’ Mining Model (WEM3). Via linear optimisation WEM³ aims to calculate the optimum fleet size to satisfy crewed missions’ requirements providing enough water for a number of colony members restricted to the distance to the mine-site, equipment type and capacity. --- Mr. Carlos Tapia Cortez is a PhD candidate of the School of Mining Engineering at UNSW. He received his BSc in Mining Engineering from the University of Atacama, Chile. Completed his MBA in Oil and Gas at the Getulio Vargas Foundation, Brazil and studied Economics at the Catholic University of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Carlos has ten years of experience in mining engineering, mine planning, mine operations, strategic supply planning and procurement intelligence, performing in Chile, Brazil and Peru in companies such as BHP Billiton, Anglo American, Codelco, Vale and Maptek. He is currently works in his PhD research in the field of mineral economics.

In The Ice Mines Of Mars - Space Engineers: Escape From Mars: Part 2

09:15
Back in the Escape From mars scenario mod for Space Engineers I go in the the G-Corp ice mines to collect ice for the adventure ahead and to explore and hack programmable blocks for schematics but hey, at least there's ice on mars! ►Escape From Mars https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=873858780&searchtext=escape+from+mars "You're not a miner, or a rocket scientist. You're just a low ranking AI technician that found out something you weren't supposed to know. Somewhere along the line, you trusted the wrong people. Now you're trapped on the Red Planet, surrounded by forces that want you dead. There's no easy route to success here, you will have to claw and scrape your way to freedom with minimal resources. But as they say in the labs of Europa, an AI technician is never alone. - Single Player and Co-op supported. Dedicated server is untested / unsupported at the moment. - Refineries and Arc Furnaces are disabled until you complete the scenario. - Assemblers are enabled, however! You can salvage and disassemble with it - Building hydrogen and Ion thrusters likewise are disabled until the scenario is over - Several other technologies are initially unavailable but are unlocked as you progress - Most settings are there for a reason, but feel free to change efficiency/inventory ones! - The scenario is combat orientated, you should build your vehicles with armor and weapons Setting After an initial rush to colonise and terraform parts of Mars, rising living costs, job automation and failed terraforming experiments drove colonists to leave for greener pastures. With the cost of land on Mars sunk to near-worthless levels, the majority was bought up by Galactic Corporation for mining, manufacturing and research operations. Today the surface is largely the domain of drone ships operated from safe outposts or even geosynchronous Mars orbit, as human personnel are costly to maintain, transport and insure. Remnants of more optimistic times still litter the planet, buildings that are slowly turning the same rusty red hue as the soil around them." ►Subscribe! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBwZUhX6MBOAbadGnzXzW5w?sub_confirmation=1 ►Want More Space Engineers? https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWaGfMcACKBQfZjB7i74wNigyWGwigrxP ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #SpaceEngineers is a sandbox game about engineering, constructing, and maintaining creations in space. RASSOR: NASA'S new rover that will mine the surface of Mars!

01:40
In the lineup of NASA powered Robots, there’s one gaining a reputation as the new ‘blue collared’ Mars rover. Called RASSOR (pronounced razor, and an acronym for Regolith Advanced Surface Systems Operations Robot) , RASSOR will travel 5 times faster than Curiosity and will endure 16 hour shifts for several years at a time. With every prospecting trip on the red planet, this excavating rover is designed to haul back 40 pounds of surface soil. Its primary objective is mining the surface of alien worlds for valuable resources like water, oxygen even rocket fuel components. RASSOR might be the rover to help prospective colonists live off the land - Martian Land. It’s currently in development at Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. They’ve built it to dig, climb, flip over and right itself up again. Daily Planet takes a close up look at this extreme space mining machine. This is annoying and usually has NOTHING to do with the video. Also no "I'M EARLY" jokes. Those, again, have nothing to do with the video and are rarely constructive. Or comment spam, like "Legend has it nobody can like this comment!" 2) No advertising your channel or giveaways. That's not the right way to get viewers. 3) Don't be offensive. I'm keeping this one vague for a reason. Keep everything PG-rated, not even PG-13. 4) Don't spoil movies that just came out in theaters (as in, within a one month window). 5) Treat others with respect. 6) No political discussion, please. I'll remove any comments that break these rules. Life Inside a Secret Chinese Bitcoin Mine

Subscribe to Motherboard Radio today! http://apple.co/1DWdc9d In October of last year Motherboard gained access to a massive, secretive Bitcoin mine housed within a repurposed factory in the Liaoning Province in rural northeast China. This is the infrastructure that keeps the digital currency’s decentralized network up and running, and its operators are profiting big time. The mine we visited is just one of six sites owned by a secretive group of four people, part of a colossal mining operation that, as of our visit, cumulatively generated 4,050 bitcoins a month, equivalent to a monthly gross of $1.5 million. EVIL SPIDERS EVERYWHERE! Memories Of Mars Ep 1 | Z1 Gaming 100 years in the future, something happened on Mars. Once frequently visited, it is now abandoned with some left behind. MEMORIES OF MARS is a open world survival game set on the abandoned mining operations in the red planet, as the dream of exploiting and colonizing Mars has proven impossible. You play as a recently awoken clone who learns its lifespan is limited by the lethal solar flares that hit the surface of the planet every few weeks. Tasked with surviving the barren wastelands of Mars, players must explore the unforgiving Martian terrain and build a habitable homestead while fighting off against a variety of dangers including strange enemies, harsh environmental elements and other human clone survivors.
