DM Plant – De Mineralize, works on ion exchange process, we use ion exchange resins for this process. DM reduces electrical conductivity by removing minerals like calcium, magnesium, Sodium, potassium, chlorides, nitrates, sulphates and silica from water. There are three stages in DM Plant, Cation Column, Anion Column and Mixed Bed Column. Cation and Anion Columns are called Two Bed DM Plant. Mixed Bed Column is called Mixed Bed DM Plant. Two bed DM Plant brings down electrical conductivity to less than 30 micron Siemens and the ph would be in between 8 to 10. Mixed bed DM Plant works as polisher. The output water of Mixed is called pure water, it contains less than 1 micro Siemens electrical conductivity and ph will neutral (6.8 to 7.2). We have two companies in India, who manufactures ion exchange resins. One is Ion exchange India, other is Thermax. We manufacture, DM Plant in FRP Body and MSRL(Mild Steel Rubber Lined). We have portable DM Plants, and Industrial DM Plants. We provide Online Conductivity and Ph meters along with DM Plant to monitor water quality. Hydrochloric Acid (hcl) is used to regenerate cation ion exchange Resin. Sodium hydroxide (i.e Caustic soda flakes) used to regenerate anion exchange resin. On 22 September 2011 Evides Industry Water celebrated the official commissioning of a new process and demineralised water plant for BASF in Antwerp. The BASF Antwerp site is the largest integrated chemical production centre in Belgium, and the second-largest production platform of the BASF group around the world. In 2009, BASF Antwerp and Evides Industrial Water signed a 15-year DPFO contract for the production and supply of process water and demineralised water. Within that framework, Evides Industrial Water has built a process water plant (PWTP) on Dutch territory, with a capacity of 2,000 m3/hr. Most of the process water serves as supply water for the existing demineralisation production plant of BASF Antwerp, but some of it is used for the production of demineralised water in a new demineralised water production plant (DWTP), built by Evides Industry Water. The capacity of this plant is 550 m3/hr. Met Inspiratie was responsible for creating this introduction film, from initial concept to its final production. An ion-exchange resin or ion-exchange polymer is an insoluble matrix normally in the form of small beads, usually white or yellowish, fabricated from an organic polymer substrate. The beads are typically porous, providing a high surface area. The trapping of ions occurs with the accompanying releasing of other ions; thus the process is called ion-exchange. There are multiple types of ion-exchange resin. Most commercial resins are made of polystyrene sulfonate. Ion-exchange resins are widely used in different separation, purification, and decontamination processes. The most common examples are water softening and water purification. In many cases ion-exchange resins were introduced in such processes as a more flexible alternative to the use of natural or artificial zeolites. Also, ion exchange resins are highly effective in the biodiesel filtration process. This video is targeted to blind users. Ion exchange is an exchange of ions between two electrolytes or between an electrolyte solution and a complex. In most cases the term is used to denote the processes of purification, separation, and decontamination of aqueous and other ion-containing solutions with solid polymeric or mineralic 'ion exchangers'. Typical ion exchangers are ion exchange resins (functionalized porous or gel polymer), zeolites, montmorillonite, clay, and soil humus. Ion exchangers are either cation exchangers that exchange positively charged ions (cations) or anion exchangers that exchange negatively charged ions (anions). There are also amphoteric exchangers that are able to exchange both cations and anions simultaneously. However, the simultaneous exchange of cations and anions can be more efficiently performed in mixed beds that contain a mixture of anion and cation exchange resins, or passing the treated solution through several different ion exchange materials. One of the major challenges associated with preventing ion exchanger breakthrough is estimating deionization resin capacity, and predicting when your deionization resin will exhaust and need to be regenerated. Preventing ion exchanger breakthrough is one way to protect against turbine and boiler corrosion. Using traditional methods of measuring sodium, silica and conductivity to monitor water purity are all viable options, but they all have a common disadvantage. They detect resin exhaustion only after breakthrough. This means that contaminants have already reached your process water as it is being detected by your analyzer or sensor, which is too late. The two typical methods for estimating breakthrough before it occurs are based on elapsed time (i.e. how much time has passed since the last regeneration) or totalized flow (i.e. how much water has passed through the ion exchanger). Both of these methods require the assumption that flow volumes and/or amount of deionization resin required are constant. This is not typically the case, resulting in one of two outcomes: Early resin regeneration, which wastes both time and money by not fully utilizing the deionization resin capacity. Unexpected resin exhaustion, which results in contamination of your water cycle chemistry, resulting in potential equipment damage. The impurity ions are taken up by the resin, which must be periodically regenerated to restore it to the original ionic form. (An ion is an atom or group of atoms with an electric charge. Positively-charged ions are called cations and are usually metals; negatively-charged ions are called anions and are usually non-metals). The following ions are widely found in Raw Waters: Cations Anions Calcium (Ca2+) Chloride (Cl-) Magnesium (Mg2+) Bicarbonate (HCO3-) Sodium (Na+) Nitrate (NO3-) Potassium (K+) Carbonate (CO32-) Iron (Fe2+) Sulfate (SO42-) Ion Exchange Resins There are two basic types of resin -- cation-exchange and anion-exchange resins. Cation exchange resins will release Hydrogen (H+) ions or other positively charged ions in exchange for impurity cations present in the water. Anion exchange resins will release hydroxyl (OH-) ions or other negatively charged ions in exchange for impurity anions present in the water. The application of ion-exchange to Water Treatment and Purification There are three ways in which ion-exchange technology can be used in water treatment and purification: first, cation-exchange resins alone can be employed to soften water by base exchange; secondly, anion-exchange resins alone can be used for organic scavenging or nitrate removal; and thirdly, combinations of cation-exchange and anion-exchange resins can be used to remove virtually all the ionic impurities present in the feedwater, a process known as deionization. Water of this quality can be produced by deionization.The two most common types of deionization are: * Dual-Bed Deionization * Mixed-Bed Deionization Dual-Bed Deionization The two-bed deionizer consists of two vessels -- one containing a cation-exchange resin in the hydrogen (H+) form and the other containing an anion resin in the hydroxyl (OH-) form. Water flows through the cation column, whereupon all the cations are exchanged for hydrogen ions.To keep the water electrically balanced, for every monovalent cation, e.g. Na+, one hydrogen ion is exchanged and for every divalent cation, e.g. Ca2+, or Mg2+, two hydrogen ions are exchanged. The same principle applies when considering anion-exchange. The decationised water then flows through the anion column. This time, all the negatively charged ions are exchanged for hydroxide ions which then combine with the hydrogen ions to form water (H2O). There are also EDI units that are often referred to as Continuous electrodeionization (CEDI) since the electric current regenerates the resin mass continuously. CEDI technique can achieve very high purity, with conductivity below 0.1 µS/cm.
