Let's create a national kidney donation exchange | Jayme Locke | TEDxBirmingham
In this innovative talk, transplant surgeon Dr. Jayme Locke shares an idea that could literally save thousands of lives. She explains how if we change the conversation around organ donation and assume altruism, we can exponentially increase the number of live donor matches. Dr. Jayme Locke is an abdominal transplant surgeon and director of the Incompatible Kidney Transplant Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Locke specializes in innovative strategies for the transplantation of incompatible organs, disparities in access to and outcomes after solid organ transplantation, and transplantation of HIV-infected end-stage patients. Dr. Locke also serves as coordinator of the UAB Kidney transplant chain and has helped UAB build a nationally recognized incompatible kidney transplant program with one of the longest kidney transplant chains in the US. In addition to being a National Institute of Health funded Investigator, Dr. Locke has authored 63 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Locke is an associate editor for Transplantation, and serves as a reviewer for several other leading journals. She is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and is a current fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Just look back over the last several decades and you can see how far scientists, doctors and surgeons have come in terms of developing new drugs and techniques to treat patients and pioneering new surgeries to save and extend lives. When we examine the average life span of humans, it too has been pretty impressive. In 1960, you could expect a person to live an average of 69 years. Today, that average in many nations has pushed well into the 80s. Sure, improved diet and knowledge about healthy living has helped a lot, but much of that improvement is also down to improvements in the medical field. Perhaps one of the most dramatic ways the medical field can save and improve the lives of patients is through transplant procedures. Throughout the 20th century, doctors developed methods of transplanting various organs from animals and human donors into living patients. There was much trial error as techniques were perfected and important lessons learned. Today, all of that hard work and research means that many transplants performed around the world are relatively routine. However, medicine doesn’t stand still and is always looking to improve and push the boundaries of what is possible. The following examples help prove this. From multiple organ transplants to procedures that seem like something out of the movies, these incredible procedures make a kidney or liver transplant look like child’s play. When we’re sick, injured or facing a life threatening condition, the vast majority of us turn to modern medicine for the answers. Our doctors and surgeons have come a long way over the last several decades and today perform incredible things to improve and save the lives of their patients. Perhaps one of the most dramatic and risky procedures to do this involves transplants. From multiple organ transplants to extreme and pioneering procedures, these incredible transplants will demonstrate just how impressive the world of medicine is. The economics of organ donation
Organ donation not only saves lives, it makes economic sense. That’s the latest argument from the organisation promoting organ donation in Switzerland, where 1,400 people are on the organ waiting list. For some people an organ donation is their only hope for survival. But compared with other European countries, the Swiss don’t do well. Switzerland has a donor rate of 14.2 donors per million inhabitants. Among neighbouring countries, only Germany has lower rates. Two years ago the Swiss authorities and Swisstransplant, the foundation promoting organ donation, launched an action plan to train medical staff and better inform the public. In March over 1,000 patients were waiting for a kidney. Those who can’t get one, have to have their blood purified on dialysis, a treatment that removes all toxic substances from the blood. It takes four hours and patients have three such treatments every week. There are over 80 dialysis units in Switzerland. Potentially nearly a million francs could be saved per patient when the costs of dialysis and transplants are compared. But that would require more donors. People wanting to become donors fill in a donor card. They then carry it with them at all times. What If You Replaced Your Organs With New Ones?
Can we live forever? That’s a question many humans ask: eternal life, the fountain of youth, the cure to death: whatever you wanna call it, we’ve been looking for it for hundreds, possibly even thousands, of years. Perhaps organ transplantation is the solution to our mortal problem? Would it be possible to live forever if you kept replacing your organs with new ones over time? Let’s find out what scientists have to say about it. TIMESTAMPS How to increase your lifespan 1:11 How much do transplantations cost 2:05 How many more years can transplanted organs add to our life 3:46 Can our life expectancy be increased passed the 122 years limit 5:08 Can animal organs extend our lifespan 7:10 Alternative ways to solve the problem: 3D bioprinting 8:59 The main reason we age 10:30 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -Increasing one's lifespan through organ transplantation is indeed possible. There are no real-life examples of this, of course. Rumor has it that the famous banker David Rockefeller, who died at the age of 101, may have had not one but seven heart transplants. -If you need a new shoulder joint or a stomach, be prepared to spend about $500. A new jaw with teeth or a gall bladder would cost around $1,200. If you have $1,500 left, you can get yourself a brand new pair of eyeballs or a coronary artery. The price of just one kidney would easily be over $250,000. -On average, kidney and liver transplants can give you about 20 more years. For an added 1,000 years of life, you'd need to get 31 heart transplants and 47 kidney and liver transplants. -Scientists found several genes that may hold the secret to fending off aging diseases, but the search isn't over yet. According to Dr. Perls, replacing body parts or even organs won't get most of us past 130 years of life. -It's not only human organs that can extend our lives to some degree; pig organs can get the job done too. Pig and baboon organs still aren't the answer we’re looking for, though, because they’d likely get rejected by the human immune system. -Thanks to 3D bioprinting, scientists can now print blood vessels, heart valves, skin, and liver cells, just to name a few. -Believe it or not, the main reason we age is breathing! And even if you try to breathe less, you're still not gonna live longer. At The Forefront Live: Historic Triple-Organ Transplant
In December of 2018, transplant teams at UChicago Medicine took on a medical first: back-to-back triple-transplants replacing the hearts, livers, and kidneys for two patients in a row. We spoke with heart transplant experts Nir Uriel, MD, and Valluvan Jeevanandam, MD, about the historic back-to-back triple-transplants. We also took some time and caught up with the two patients, Sarah McPharlin and Daru Smith. How Do Hair Transplants Work? | Earth Lab
Have you ever wondered how hair transplants actually work? Where does the hair come from? Subscribe to Earth Lab for more amazing animal videos - http://bit.ly/SubscribeToEarthLab Hair can grow from nearly every parts of the human body. Hairs grow out of hair follicles and they can be as densely packed as 100 follicles per cm². But for men in particular, hair follicles can stop growing on the head. Greg Foot explains how hair transplanting works by relocating active hair follicles from other areas of the body and how the process has evolved since it's beginnings back in the 1950s. Lars Mittank (Organ Black Market)
Missing in Bulgaria since 08/07/2014, Lars Mittank from Berlin in Germany. The more I've researched this case, the more convinced I've become that Lars Mittank was targeted by a Bulgarian Organ Transplants Ring. I want justice for Lars and his mum. I fully believe the doctor who refused to allow Lars to fly home should be investigated much more, as well as the illegal black market organ trade in Bulgaria. The drug Cefcil which was prescribed to Lars is also an antibiotic given to recipients of organ donors. German and Bulgarian transplants are usually successful matches and a heart can fetch up to one million on the black market. Lars was 28 when he vanished and it's important to note, 28-29 years old is the ideal age to take organs from a donor. Non smoker, healthy, good height, good weight. Why Did God Use A Rib To Make Eve The regenerating regrowing amazing rib bone marrow stem cells DNA
http://info.biotech-calendar.com/bid/113145/Regenerating-Ribs-with-Stem-Cells-at-USC (Many More Sources Below) I investigate why God chose a rib to make Eve versus the dust of the ground. I am just a common man with the goal of researching for proof that the Bible is a supernatural book. More videos to come soon! You can also watch my videos researching the worlds religions including Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Voodoo, Taoism, and Judaism. My goal was to see what parachute is on the back of the other religions. Mine is Christ and the Cross but what is going to save them at the end of the plane crash (death) which we all admit is coming one day. Below is my template for leading Atheist/Agnostics to Christ....I encourage Christians out there to copy and paste this into any discussions you have with friends who may be in this category. Also be patient with them....they probably have reasons for why they are so filled with anger and hatred towards Christianity.....probably a controlling parent or hypocritical parent who claimed to be Christians and greatly destroyed their confidence. Now they are hurt and wounded so proceed with great caution and always remain calm. Fishing for Atheists/Ags is like Muskie fishing....you must be patient....may fish all day and never get a nibble.....but every one you reel in is a wall mounter! Also they are a cunning and aggressive fish.....they can even wound you as the fisherman as you attempt to reel them in! Have fun and maintain a steady confident approach. The good news is you have the GOODS below to help drive home your side of the argument! Good luck! Harvested Alive and the Medical organ industry
Harvested alive dochttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7zlzpU3Exk Facts about organ transplants https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZVo5O0W7VE In sweden people are automaticly regestered as doners and must log into the doner regestry to change their choice to not be a doner. I have done this and made copies of this. Organ harvesting is a 3-6 hour long surgery performed using paralytic drugs *without* anesthesia. Many misdiagnosed "brain dead" people have woken up shortly before the procedure or while on the operating table. This video spells out the ugly facts involved in this very lucrative business. Links to reference articles below. Correction: In the video I stated minors can sign up as organ donors and their parents have no say in the matter. I believe the current UAGA actually DOES require parental consent before harvesting minors (even though they can register as donors) but if you have kids you will want to research and clarify that point yourself. Paul Byrne The Shadowy Side to Organ Transplants
There is a shadowy side to organ transplants that is rarely talked about. Often times patients are killed for their organs even thoughthey could have survived. There is an ultra-lucrative trade in organs. Some organs can fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars as opposed to be given to those most in need. Some of them are used for Satanic rituals by the elite. To discuss thes issues we will have on Dr. Paul Bryne. Dr. Paul Byrne is a pediatrician and neonatal and perinatal medicine specialist. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Association of American Physicians and Surgeons along with the president of Life Guardian Foundation . He is also the author of many articles on "brain death," organ transplantation, anti-euthanasia, anti-abortion, and more. Dr. Byrne reveals the shadow side of modern medicine and shares critically important information about the protocols of hospital birth that are causing harm to mothers and babies. He also talks extensively the concept of "brain death" which, he said, is a fictional term and not indicative of death at all. The term has been created to legalize the removal of healthy organs from LIVING people, who are paralyzed while they are having their hearts and other organs taken out of their bodies, but who are given no anesthesia. This is the same thing happening to infants in neonatal intensive care units, where babies are often operated on without anesthesia and where they are paralyzed during repetitive and extremely painful procedures, unable to move, but feeling everything the medical people are doing to them.

Grade A Class III Hospital Illegally Transplanted Organs with Demand Exceeding Donation
Follow us on TWITTER: http://twitter.com/cnforbiddennews Like us on FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/chinaforbiddennews Mainland media recently published a few news articles related to organ transplantion, for example, "Detailed Exposure of the Largest Case of Selling Kidneys: A Grade A Class III Hospital Turns into Transplantion Factory". Another article, "China Will Conduct a Serious Investigation into Illegal Trading in Human Organs" or "Chinese Organ Donation Far Less than Demand" and so on. After these articles were put together, analysts found many secrets about the "Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) human organ harvesting from living people" which has been reported by overseas media. Mainland media reported on the 22nd that the largest human organ trading case in China to date, involves 51 kidneys and more than 10.34 million in illicit money. Transplant recipients who had to pay around 80,000 to 100,000 yuan (US$ 13,000 to 16,000 ) for hospitalization, medicine, surgery fees etc. In addition to being shocked by the high profits of organ transplantation, the public noticed more that in this case, the direct surgery doctor happens to be chief of the urology department of a Beijing hospital. This hospital has the qualification of Grade A Class III. The so-called "A III Hospitals" is the "Grade A Class III hospitals" for short. Mainland hospitals are divided into three grades and nine classes, "A III" is equivalent to the highest level of the hospital. At the end of 2012, there were only 35 hospitals with Grade A Class III qualification in Beijing. Mainland media also widely reported a message on the 18th that the authorities would conduct a serious investigation of illegal trading in human organs. An article published on Xinhua Network states: from 2010 to last year, after three years' of a pilot implementation of the so-called "voluntary organ donation system after a citizen's death" ran until the 14th August. A total of 2107 voluntary organ donors who donated organs reached 5,787. Caixin Network reports that about 300,000 people every year in China need organ transplants, but "only about 10 thousand people can truly have the opportunity to access the transplanted organs". This is based on statistics provided by the CCP's State Health and Family Planning Commission. Comparing the actual amount of 10,000 organ transplant cases each year, and the accumulated 5787 donors from 2010 to August, the public questions, where were the other organs obtained? Who has the ability to resource such a large number of human organs? US-based political commentator Li Shankan: The gap is very clearly a black hole. When you have a few thousand cases of transplants which have no organ sources, there is already sufficient reason to doubt. Does it constitute a huge crime system? Who can carry out such a big operation?" Back in early 2006, witnesses from China for the first time provided testimonies in the international arena that the CCP Authorities systematically had executed the organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners. A few months later, the former Chief of Asia-Pacific Division of Canada Government, a senior Member of Parliament David Kilgour and international human rights lawyer David Matas reached the following conclusion. The allegations of the CCP executing organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners are true after an independent investigation. This year, senior media person Gutmann from the United States also published a new book "The Slaughter" for which he took a 5 years to collect the testimonies by interviewing several witnesses. He estimated that, in order to undertake live organ harvesting, the CCP authorities killed 65,000 Falun Gong practitioners between the years 2000 and 2008. Under the circumstances of more and more evidence emerging in the international community, the mainland media recently reported on the so-called largest organ trading case. Additionally, they reported on a thorough investigation into the illegal sale of human organs. So the comments believe that this is not a coincidence in terms of time. US-based commentator Li Shankan: It (CCP) is diverting attention, the international pressure is growing, and more and more Chinese people know about this information through a variety of channels. But many people do not dare to believe the facts. It (CCP) is using this matter to confuse people. To date, the world's mainstream media and governments have accepted the fact, but this matter is still happening in China! Who will take the responsibility? . 《神韵》2014世界巡演新亮点 http://www.ShenYunPerformingArts.org/

Fecal Microbiota Transplants: The Ins and Outs of FMT
Poop. You flush it, and usually that’s the end of the story. But to scientists like Mark Smith, poop is more than just waste – it’s medicine. Join Mark Smith and Jack Gilbert for a Reddit AMA on Tuesday, March 6th! Follow us @TangledBankHHMI for more details. A healthy intestinal tract is teeming with trillions of microbes, which generally keep us infection-free by fending off attacks from bad bacteria that make us sick. But sometimes, bad bacteria like Clostridium difficile can take hold, causing chronic and painful diarrhea, or even death. “C Diff” is normally treated with an intensive course of antibiotics, but this sometimes makes things worse by weakening the gut microbiome and leaving it susceptible to further infection. Mark Smith things he has a solution: poop. He’s treating patients who aren’t helped by the standard antibiotic treatment with new “fecal transplants.” It’s exactly what it sounds like—transplanting stool from healthy donors into sick patients. Doctors have observed remarkable recovery rates with this novel technique… but how does it work? Subscribe for more episodes every Monday! Mom Donated a Kidney to a Stranger. But It’s How She Spent Her Recovery That Gave Us the Feels
Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/Z4nZcg Please do not forget to visit the site http://scribol.com Mom Donated a Kidney to a Stranger. But It’s How She Spent Her Recovery That Gave Us the Feels ************************************************************** After a lot of thought and consideration, Amber Hollier decided to donate a kidney to a man she’d never met. What she did was amazing, but just wait till you find out how she spent her recovery time. Single mom Hollier lives in Louisiana with her daughter Amber. It was through Amber that she first found out about the plight of a local man, Darin Tassin from Covington, who was in need of a kidney. --------------------------------------------------------- ►Article link:https://goo.gl/AZtPyS ---------------------------------------------------------- Hollier followed Tassin’s story on his Facebook page and discovered there was a simple test she could take to find out if she could be a potential donor. She took it. No one could have predicted the series of events that followed. In early 2015, more than a year after Hollier had first heard about Tassin’s condition, she found out that she was the perfect match to be a donor – more-so than any other candidate. Things began to move forward. ************************************************************** ►You can support the channel: PATREON https://goo.gl/KtaKrp ►Image credits: via Facebook/Because I said I would. ►web: http://watchjojo.com ► SUBSCRIBE US: https://goo.gl/Z4nZcg *Thank you :Robin Lewis ► Follow Us On Google Plus: https://goo.gl/JYf9Rr ► Like us Our Facebook Page: https://goo.gl/C5Rv92 ► Follow On Twitter: https://goo.gl/PZ2U1R ►For more articles visit: http://scribol.com #watchjojo

Heart Transplant Status Listing- (Heart Transplant Allocation System)
As potential heart transplant patients we often talk a lot about where we are on “The List.” No doubt “the list” fully know as the “Heart Transplant Status Listing” or the “Heart Allocation System” does bring to our minds some curiosity and concern. Where you are on the list does effect your wait time and possibly survival rates. Most patients set their minds on being at “the top of the list” and are often disappointed when that status is not achieved or maintain. Worry can set in making a persona feel that they will never get “the call” hence never be offered the gift of life via a new organ. Today on The Transplant Helper we will be pausing to discuss the current Heart Allocation System by mentioning its 4 current categories and briefly explaining each in easy to understand terms. Hopefully this will do away with some of the misunderstanding about this allocation system. Today will also be discussing some major changes that will be coming to the listing and allocation system in the future. In that discussion I hope to remove some of the fear of change and take down certain myths that exist. Listed below you’ll find links to some documents published by UNOS and The America College of Cardiology so you can make your own investigation and see for yourself. http://www.acc.org/latest-in-cardiology/articles/2017/02/09/07/24/the-future-of-the-adult-heart-allocation-system-in-the-us -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Check Out Another Great Video: "Will An Opt Out Organ Donation Save Lives? | Presumed Consent" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlNjaABfDqQ -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-
