Planetary Resources, The Asteroid Mining Company

07:49
I’m going to give an overview of Planetary Resources and explore the potential for asteroid mining. Planetary Resources, PR for short, will have their Arkyd-6 imaging satellite launched from the Indian Space Research Organization’s PSLV rocket in the coming weeks. The launch of the Arkyd 6 will bring PR one step closer to their goal to develop and deploy the technologies for asteroid mining. How does Planetary Resources plan to mine asteroids? Let’s find out! Welcome to NeoScribe, researching the future for you, so you don’t have to. If you’re new to my channel, I cover topics such as space exploration, robotics and ALL things future. So if you want to know how cool life will be in the future, hit the subscribe button, and notification bell, so you don’t miss out. Alight, our journey starts with the asteroid, 1903 LU also known as 511 Davida. It is the 7th largest asteroid in our solar system with a diameter of 167 to 192 miles or 270 to 310 km. Davida was discovered by Raymond Smith Dugan in 1903, and it will blow your mind. We will get to that a little later, but for now, let’s visit Asterank.com; which is a scientific and economic database of over 600,000 asteroids created by Ian Webster and acquired by PR in 2013. Here it is, we can see the inner half of the solar system, the outer orange ring is the orbit of Jupiter. The teal colored ring is the orbit of Earth. And then there are all these tiny white dots, glowing like specs of dust. Each of those dots are actual asteroids, simulated accurately, according to time which you can see is sped up in the upper right of the screen. Now let’s click on Most Valuable, and look to the left of the screen. On the top of the list, we see Davida. Next to its name is 1903’s estimated value of $15 QUINTILLION dollars. Unless you’ve played AdVenture Capitalist, you probably aren’t familiar with QUINTILLIONS. A QUINTILLION has 18 zeros behind it. $15 Quintillion is so much money, it would take GDP of all the countries in the world at $78 Trillion, 197,213 years to make $15 Quintillion! S0, Planetary Resources, PR, has their eyes set on the treasures of space. PR’s mission is to mine near-Earth asteroids for raw materials, ranging from water to precious metals. They aim to develop cost-effective exploration technologies, and initiate prospecting missions and target resource-rich asteroids that are easily accessible. PR believes mining asteroids could bring in billions of dollars annually to the global economy. The effort will tap into the high concentration of precious metals found on asteroids and provide a sustainable supply to the ever-growing population on Earth. PR was founded in 2009, in a shroud of secrecy, under the name of Arkyd Astronautics to hide their asteroid mining intentions. It was founded by Peter Diamandis, Eric Anderson and Chris Lewicki and is headquartered out of Redmond WA. They are backed by a handful of billionaire investors, including Google’s co-founder Larry Page, Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt, former Microsoft chief architect Charles Simonyi, and Ross Perot Jr. The company also has Avatar director James Cameron, former astronaut Tom Jones, and planetary scientist Sara Seager as advisers. Resources and Capabilities

04:47
A company’s business model and strategy must be well matched to its collection of resources and capabilities. A resource is a competitive asset that is owned or controlled by a company. A capability is the capacity of a company to competently perform some internal activity. Capabilities are developed and enabled through the deployment of a company’s resources. What is most telling about a company’s aggregation of resources and capabilities is how powerful they are in the marketplace. The competitive power of a resource or capability is measured by how many of four tests for sustainable competitive advantage it can pass. The tests are often referred to as the VRIN tests for sustainable competitive advantage - an acronym for valuable, rare, inimitable, and nonsubstitutable. The first two tests determine whether the resource or capability may contribute to a competitive advantage. The last two determine the degree to which the competitive advantage potential can be sustained. Resources and capabilities must be continually strengthened and nurtured to sustain their competitive power and, at times, may need to be broadened and deepened to allow the company to position itself to pursue emerging market opportunities. A dynamic capability is the ability to modify, deepen, or reconfigure the company’s existing resources and capabilities in response to its changing environment or market opportunities.

Good advice saves resources

11:17
The wood processing company Holzwerke Bullinger GmbH & Co.KG in Neuruppin, Brandenburg is one of the largest European manufacturers of composite lumber. While timber prices have been steadily rising over the past years, the significance of efficient regenerative raw material handling has become equally important. VDI Centre for Resource Efficiency (ZRE) online tools provide co-workers with an overview of possible resource efficiency potential. The resource check delivers the initial indicators. When further information is required, the VDI ZRE telephone service office provides assistance. Calling in an external advisor may also be a shrewd step. Implementing the VDI ZRE cost structure calculator, advisors gain an initial impression of company overhead. The cross-sectorial comparison quickly reveals whether and which costs are higher than average. Once this groundwork has been laid, the resource efficiency advisor now analyses the production process. Step by step, each work procedure and the corresponding flow of material is examined. At Holzwerke Bullinger, a simple one-time investment of 4,000 to 5,000 euros brings a savings of 81,400 euros. As a result of the consultation, Holzwerke Bullinger has increased composite lumber production efficiency, an important step in holding one’s own in global competition. VDI ZRE does more than provide advisors with the tools to unlock company resource efficiency potential. Every year, VDI ZRE carries out in-house hands-on training or learning factories such as the one at the Ostfalia College in Wolfenbüttel. There are also seminars to train resource efficiency advisors, running over several days. In addition to the general basics, participants learn to compile the energy and material usage during a given process, as well as the knowledge to correctly analyse this information with the appropriate tools. Alkane Resources Ltd (ASX:ALK) managing director Nic Earner updates Proactive Investors on drilling completed south of its Tomingley Gold Mine near Dubbo in NSW. The program drilled broad and shallow high-grade gold intercepts which feature 24 metres at 5.08 g/t fr9om 78 metres, showing potential for material project life extension and a potential return to open pit mining. "We've been running an extensive drill program over the last couple of years to try and extend the resource," says Earner. He continues, "And we hit some really, really high grades ... over tens of metres about 4 kilometres to the south of the mine."
08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills

12:25
08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills 1. "Tell me a little about yourself." You should take this opportunity to show your communication skills by speaking clearly and concisely in an organized manner. Because there is no right or wrong answer for this question, it is important to appear friendly. 2. "What are your strengths?" This is a popular interview question. They want to know what you think of yourself. Although this is a general question, there is a wrong and right answer. The wrong answer is a generic answer saying you are organized and friendly. Although it will not hurt you during the interview, it will certainly not help you either. Answer this question based on the type of job you are applying for. 3. "What are your weaknesses?" For this answer, you should display a weakness that can be seen as a strength. There are many types of answers that will work. Some answers will be good answers for certain jobs, while the same answer will be a bad answer for a different job. Select an answer that will work for the position you are applying for. 4. "Where do you see yourself in five years?" This question primarily depends on where you are in your career. A person with 5 years of experience will have different goals than a person with no work experience. This question is asked to see how serious a candidate is about his or her career. Some people might not know their goals, and some people might have goals of becoming rich and retiring early. Those are incorrect answers for this question. The type of answer you want to give is an ambitious answer that shows you really love your career. A good interviewer will read between the lines and find out if a person is going to be a hard worker or just a mediocre one. Being descriptive and shooting for a big goal is something interviewers want to hear. 5. "What do you know about our company?" A typical job interview question, asked to find out how much company research you have conducted, is "What do you know about this company?" Prepare in advance, and in a word, research, so you can provide relevant and current information about your prospective employer to the interviewer. 6. "Are you good at dealing with change?" Dealing with change is common in the work place. A simple yes will not be sufficient to impress the interviewer. This is another type of question where everyone will have similar answers. Of course everyone is going to claim being excellent dealing with change. You got to communicate that you are really good at dealing with change. 7. "Do you work well under pressure?" In most cases, the best answer to this question is answering yes. Working well under pressure is a good trait to have. However, I think if you answer that you work the same with pressure and without pressure, the interviewer will be more impressed. However, you will need to explain in words why this is better. 8. "How do you make important decisions?" There are many ways to answer this question, and if you have a reasonable method of making decisions, it will probably be sufficient. One answer I thought of included not being afraid of asking your manager. You can follow up by saying even the best needs mentoring, and you always want to improve. So basically, this could work as an answer, but depending on the job, you might have a better shot with an answer like my example.

CEO Clips: Thomas Patton | Quaterra Resources Inc | 3 Major Porphyry Deposits With Huge Potential

01:37
Chairman and CEO of Quaterra Resources Inc., Thomas Patton, discusses the company’s three major Porphyry deposits and their future potential. We are a copper exploration company focused on North America. We’ve got 51 square miles around in the Yerington district. We have water rights that are dedicated to mining, we have patented claims, we have three known porphyry deposits on that property. The Yerington Pit, the Giant Bear Deposit and then we have the MacArthur Oxide Deposit and we have the Groundhog Prospect which is immediately north of the Giant Pebble Deposit in Alaska. Pebble is the largest undeveloped porphyry, copper, gold deposit in the world. It has over seventy million ounces of gold and 50-plus billion pounds of copper. It’s absolutely huge, it’s never been explored to the north and we have 40,000 acres directly north of Pebble without a drill hole in it and we’re partners with Chuchuna which is an outfit that’s partly owned by Rob Retherford of Alaska Earth Sciences who was the discoverer of Donelin Creek. So, it’s a great opportunity for us. We’re going to begin our pre-feasibility study at MacArthur and that will involve additional drilling and metallurgy. We’re redoing the mine plan, we want to do some deep drilling at Groundhog this year in joint venture with Chuchuna, our partners. Quaterra Resources Inc. is a mining exploration and development company focused on advancing its key copper assets in Yerington, Nevada. Quaterra’s Yerington projects have good existing infrastructure, valuable water rights, community support and significant exploration upside. They have the potential to be transformed into a district-scale, long-life copper mining operation. Quaterra has 100% ownership of three partially defined porphyry copper deposits in the Yerington Copper District of Nevada, one of the world’s most attractive mining jurisdictions. Xtract Resources CEO: O’Kiep could be company maker

05:15
The O’Kiep copper sulphide tailings project in South Africa has the potential to be a ‘company maker’ for Xtract Resources (LON:XTR). That’s according to Jan Nelson, chief executive of the AIM-listed miner, which has just negotiated a sizeable discount on the proposed purchase price for the dumps. The miner has raised almost £5mln in two fundings in the past two months and this improved financial position has helped it renegotiate the terms. Nelson says the share price, which has shot up in recent months, is ‘moving in the right direction’. He adds: ‘We have a lot of newsflow coming… so I think the share price will keep on moving upwards.’

"Natural gas resources, utilization & potential climate/pollution benefits" Anthony Kovscek, professor of energy resources engineering and Arun Majumdar, professor of mechanical engineering; co-director, Stanford Precourt Institute for Energy Energy Seminar - April 6, 2015 Anthony Kovscek is interested in the recovery of unconventional hydrocarbon resources and mitigating carbon emissions from fossil fuels via geological sequestration of greenhouse gases. He and his research group examine the physics of flow through porous media at length scales that vary from the pore to the laboratory to the reservoir. The organizing themes are flow imaging to delineate the mechanisms of multiphase flow (oil, water, and gas) in porous media and the synthesis of models from experimental, theoretical, and field data. In all of our work, physical observations, obtained mainly from laboratory and field measurements, are interwoven with theory. Anthony Kovscek's academic interests center around efficient, responsible hydrocarbon recovery and the efficient use of energy. Before joining the faculty at Stanford in 1996, he worked at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He hold a Ph. D. from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.S. from the University of Washington. Both degrees are in Chemical Engineering Arun Majumdar is the Jay Precourt Provostial Chair Professor at Stanford University, where he serves on the faculty of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and is a senior fellow of the Precourt Institute for Energy. Prior to joining Stanford, he was the vice president for energy at Google, where he created several energy technology initiatives and advised the company on its broader energy strategy. He continues to be a consultant to Google on energy. In October 2009, Dr. Arun Majumdar was nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the Senate to become the founding director of the Advanced Research Projects Agency - Energy (ARPA-E), where he served till June 2012. Online Business Quiz: https://projectlifemastery.com/quiz/ In this video, I share 10 online business ideas I'd start if I wasn't so damn busy! As many of you know, I've got a lot of businesses and projects on the go. I can't do it all. It would be foolish to think that I can. A lot of people try to do a million things at once, but all it's doing is diluting their focus. I would rather go deep and master one idea than attempt to pursue ten different things, half-ass. A lot of people have amazing ideas, but they are afraid to share them because they live with a scarcity mentality. In my eyes, this reflects a lack of confidence. It doesn't matter what anyone else is doing. All that matters is that you believe in yourself. Are you ready to learn 10 online business ideas I'd start if I wasn't so damn busy? U.S. Unconventional Gas Resources: A Reassessment of Supply/Demand Potential

02:01:29
The CSIS Energy and National Security Program hosts a reassessment of gas supply and demand prospects and a discussion of the path forward. More efficient drilling, new technologies, and a deeper geological understanding have not only increased access to domestic gas resources but have also allowed for the development of an updated profile of the resource itself. The rapidly evolving nature of U.S. unconventional gas development has rendered resource estimates made only a few years ago already out of date. At the same time, opportunities for new demand growth have increased. Yet challenges to realizing the full potential of this resource remain. In order to present a variety of insights into the evolving supply and demand picture, the CSIS Energy Program hosts a diverse panel of both public and private sector experts: Paula Gant, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Energy for Oil and Natural Gas Adam Sieminski, Administrator of the Energy Information Administration Andrew Slaughter, Vice President for Energy Research at IHS Douglas Tierney, Vice President for Business Development at Encana Mary Barcella, Director for North American Natural Gas at IHS Clay Bretches, Vice President for E&P Services and Minerals at Anadarko Frank Verrastro, Senior Vice President and the James R. Schlesinger Chair for Energy and Geopolitics, moderates.

Mariana Resources CEO Glen Parsons on Hot Maden's Potential to Become a Mine

09:17
The Investing News Network recently sat down with Glen Parsons, CEO of Mariana Resources (LSE:MARL), to talk about the company's Hot Maden project in Turkey and about why he believes it has the potential to become a mine. Despite a weak gold price, Mariana Resources is still up 55 percent so far this year on the Alternative Investment Market in London, and the company's Hot Maden project has certainly been yielding strong results. Near the end of July, Mariana Resources reported assays of 117.3 meters at 13.9 grams per tonne of gold and 2 percent copper and 83 meters of 13.4 grams per tonne of gold at 3.9 percent copper. "I think the key thing here with these results is, every result we're putting out in this focus zone is really delivering consistent grade," he said. "It's really building a resource-base potential." Mariana Resources will initiate its own independent resource estimate for the project, which he expects will be released early in Q4. Further speaking about why he believes Hot Maden could become a mine, Parsons mentioned that the mineralization at the project is high-grade starting 25 meters from surface. "The starting up cost of a mine is actually going to be relatively low in terms of that." He also mentioned that Mariana Resources sees a relatively small footprint on the docket for the mine, and pointed out that the company's Turkish partner, Lidya Madencilik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S., has "fast tracked" the project so far and is focused on becoming a producer. Finally, since Mariana Resources is popular in North America with the likes of Brent Cook, but is listed only in London, Parsons spoke about how interested investors in Canada and the US can invest in the company. He stated that Mariana is looking at making the process easier for North American investors. Watch the video for more of what Parsons had to say about Mariana Resources.
