Electrical Distribution System Modeling and Analysis in MATLAB and Simulink
See what's new in the latest release of MATLAB and Simulink: https://goo.gl/3MdQK1 Download a trial: https://goo.gl/PSa78r In this webinar, we demonstrate how MathWorks tools may be used to investigate electrical distribution system operation. The IEEE 123 Node Test Feeder is used to explore the following topics: Create distribution system networks automatically in SimPowerSystems™ from network data stored in text file formats. Perform unbalanced load-flow computations in time-domain simulation through the use of pseudo steady-state modeling. Assess operational risk through monte-carlo simulations. Automate report generation to record the output of simulation studies. Integrate EMT components into a phasor system level simulation. Investigate demand response strategies, such as smart charging of electric vehicles. About the Presenter: Graham Dudgeon, MEng, PhD Graham is the Energy Industry Manager at MathWorks. Before his role as Industry Manager, Graham was a Principal Technical Consultant at MathWorks and has worked with a broad range of customers across multiple industries, primarily in the areas of electrical power systems and power electronic technologies. Before joining MathWorks, Graham worked at the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA), an agency of the UK Ministry of Defence, in the Flight Management and Control Department, and also as a Senior Research Fellow at the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in Electrical Power Systems at the University of Strathclyde.

Simulation models are an essential part of power system studies, but a broader computational framework is needed to extract the most value from those studies, and reduce the risk of the decisions that you make from the outcome of those studies. In this webinar, MathWorks and IREQ will demonstrate the following tasks within power system studies through worked examples, Developing simulation models suitable for different time periods Replaying recorded data through a simulation model Developing a customized simulation component Running multiple scenarios on multiple cores Working with large amounts of simulation data Automating the generation of reports Product Focus SimPowerSystems Parallel Computing Toolbox Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox

Hydraulic System Design
At Fluid Mechanics one of our core skills is hydraulic system design, SimulationX is one of the main tools we use to design and simulate complex hydraulic systems. SimulationX is a modelling tool for modelling multiple physical domains including hydraulics, mechanics, electrical, electronic, magnetic, pneumatics and heat transfer. The video gives a step by step introduction in how to build a hydraulic model. The model created includes a hydraulic power pack, a cylinder and positional control. SimulationX is a commercial modelling programme based on the Modelica modelling language. Modelica is an open source modelling language controlled by the Modelica association. There are other implementations of Modelica, some of these are commercial like simulation X and Dymola, but OpenModelica is an open source free implementation of Modelica. http://www.fluidmechanics.co.uk/hydraulic-calculations/hydraulic-modelling-design-using-simulationx/

Power Analysis: PowerSight Manager Software With Report Writer from Summit Technology
POWERSIGHT MANAGER (PSM) PC SOFTWARE is a flexible, powerful, and easy to use power analysis software tool. It combines graphical analysis of data logs and waveforms with automatic report generation, and control of PowerSight instruments. It works with Microsoft Windows (XP, Vista, 7). PSM is perfect for analysis of all power systems (1 phase, 2 phase, 3 phase, 3-1/2 phase, phase-phase, phase-neutral, AC/DC, and 20Hz to 440Hz systems). When connected to a PowerSight, PSM can display on your PC, netbook, or PDA, real-time values and oscilloscope-type waveforms of voltage, current, and phasors, as well as harmonic analysis with spectrum bar charts or tabular data. For safety your PC or netbook can be up to 25 feet away from high voltage using Bluetooth wireless communications with the PowerSight models PS2500, PS3500, or PS4500. Other PowerSight meters communicate via serial cable. DISPLAY, ZOOM, PRINT. Data logs from PowerSight can be downloaded by PSM and displayed for analysis then printing. Detailed logs of demand and disturbances from minutes to weeks are easily handled. Zoom and labeling functions allow precise analysis and display of the data of interest. Data log displays contain 70 different measurement types including voltage, current, true power, apparent power, VAR, power factor, energy, frequency, and harmonic distortion of each phase. ONE-CLICK EXPORT TO EXCEL All log data is accessible as text files that are directly compatible with Excel and other spreadsheet programs, and makes it easy to perform your own calculations.
