This week Eric Worre gives you 10 Strategies to Become an Event Promotion Machine, and ideas on how you can be a world class promoter. Promotion in network marketing is the number one highest paid skill. The people who can get people to make a decision to go and attend an event, they get paid bigger than anybody else in network marketing… When people go to events, their vision changes, their game plan changes, and their view of the future changes. In this video Eric is discussing event promotion for the promotional partners of the upcoming Recruiting Mastery event, but the concept is the same regardless of the event or company. Strategy #1 is to Promote. As Eric explains, don’t confuse Promotion with Announcements. Most people announce, and announcements don’t create promotion. Make sure people know that you are committed to it also, let them know the value and benefits. For example, “Here’s all the things you’re going to get if you decide to attend this event with us.” Promotion is all inclusive. Strategy #2, promote to your entire team. Talk about what they are going to learn. Talk about the relationships, talk about the fun, adventure, excitement and ideas. Talk about all the benefits they would get by being there. Strategy #3 – Work With Your Leaders. Identify key leaders that are going to be part of your promotional team. Give those people some benefits for promotion and results, such as maybe you have a special dinner or party for those people, or maybe some incentives or some bonus recognition. Use your leaders to create leverage. Get your team involved. Strategy #4 –Prizes or awards. Maybe you could benefit by not just selling tickets, but you could use a few as giveaways, or incentives or bonuses. Maybe you’ve got a leg that needs to be built up in order for you to move to the next level. You can tell the people in your organization that if they achieve XYZ, then you have give them a ticket as a reward, as incentive, as a contest in order to be able to provide an incentive for them to do the task that’s going to reward you not only short term but long term. Strategy #5 – Recognition. Recognize the people who register. Recognize the people who register early. Recognize the people who are on the leadership team. Recognize they’re stepping out and getting outside of their comfort zone. Recognize them on Facebook. Recognize them on email. Recognize them on conference calls. Recognize them however you want to recognize them, but recognition drives behavior, it really, really does. Strategy #6 – Create an Event Within the Event. For example, if you are promoting an event, let them know of a special acticity or party you have planned just for your team. Create a little get together before the event even starts to get them excited and focused. There are lunches, breakfasts, dinners, workouts, or anything you want to do inside of your team. Create some extra things. Strategy #7 - Repetition. Repetition being the idea that you can’t just announce this and you can’t just invite people, you have to promote, which means repeat it over and over and over and over and over again for people to realize that you’re serious about this. Strategy #8 – Host Hotels. Create a host hotel if your event isn’t located in a hotel. Use it as party central. Maybe throw a pool part the day before the event, or have a party in lounge, or appetizers or dinner. Engage in those activities as a team. Use the hotel to help create some excitement. Strategy #9 - No. 9. Corporate or Cross Line. Talk to people that maybe you have good relationship with that are cross line to you, and see if they want a little chunk of your tickets in order to bring part of their team. Also talk to Corporate and see if they want to use tickets as incentives or scholarships. And finally Strategy #10 – Create breakout sessions for your team after the event is over. This will really help your team absorb the materials that were presented and create strategy that everyone can implement so you all are rowing on the same team. Today I’m going to give you 3 outrageous restaurant marketing ideas you should try this year to stand out from the competition and win over brand new customers. As a bonus, I’m going to tell you how to get thousands of dollars in free advertising with these promotions too! The first restaurant marketing idea is a food eating competition. Now you might be saying, Nick, this isn’t a marketing idea, it’s a restaurant promotion. Yes, you are right but soon you’ll see how all these promotions are going to tie into one key strategy to bring you hundreds of new customers based around one simple tactic. So, why run a food eating competition? Because people love to be entertained, it’s different, and nobody else is probably doing one of these right now in your area! You can go to any bar or restaurant and eat and drink and watch the game, but how many are doing fun crazy things like this. I run a pizza eating competition, a one pound burger eating competition, and a taco eating competition every year and my customers love it! I tried hot dogs but nobody wanted to get in it because nobody wanted to eat hot dogs! If you’re going to try this out, ask your customers what they’d want first. The second outrageous restaurant marketing idea is running a contest and giving away a free meal per day for an entire year. Why do this? Because it’s an amazing offer, it grabs attention, and who doesn’t want to sign up for a free meal, per day, for an entire year? Are you going to lose money running this competition? Nope not a penny. Here’s how I run this promotion. Set up a one page, lead capture website to collect people’s information in order to sign them up. Drive traffic there using Facebook ads and getting your staff to sign people up. To make this really profitable for you, make everyone a winner by giving them some kind of discount when they sign up and give them 7 days to use it to create some quick sales. What I do for the winner who wins the free meal for a year is the free meal is tied to a restriction that it’s dine in only and they must either purchase 2 beverages with it or buy another full priced meal. I make this clear before they sign up so there is no confusion. By adding in these restrictions you at the very least break even on each meal. The third outrageous restaurant marketing idea is to get a celebrity chef to come in. Why? Because everyone wants to meet a celebrity and this helps you build instant credibility! The way to start looking for someone who isn’t take expensive is look up the chefs that are on Bar Rescue or one of the other food tv shows and contact them to see what they’d charge to come in. Maybe get some of the beer, liquor, and food vendors to help sponsor it. Here’s the big bonus I wanted to fill you in on. When you run outrageous restaurant marketing ideas like this, you don’t have to come out of pocket to promote them. You can use the press. All you have to do is send out a press release about the event and if don’t know how to write one, google it and get a template. You can write one in 30 minutes at most. Take that press release and send it out to your tv, radio, and news stations. They will interview you before the event and you’ll get exposure that way. Then most likely they will show up the day of the event to get more footage and you’ll get exposure again, absolutely free! This brings me to my conclusion. In today’s competitive market, you have to run promotions and marketing strategies like this. You have to be different then everyone else. You have to stand out. Because if you don’t, you’ll never reach the success you’re really looking for. The top 4 social networks to promote your events are: Facebook LinkedIn Twitter Instagram So how do you make sure your marketing campaign is fresh and that you can make the most of reaching billions of users on social media? Tactic #1 - It's All About Visuals Pictures and video are the new social currency. Nobody reads anymore. Not enough time, not enough focus. On the other hand, it’s very easy to double tap on a picture. Collect as many assets as possible from your current event that you can repurpose. A solid photography investment is the basis of modern social media strategies. These visual assets will be key on pretty much every social network. Whether it is Linkedin or Snapchat, you will need an enormous amount of assets to create a coordinated campaign that delivers. Tactic #2 - Create FOMO The whole purpose of your social media marketing campaign is to create Fear Of Missing Out. Hire influencers to attend your event and spread the word about your event. Entice them with targeted registration codes, get them to participate in the lead up to the event with interviews, takeovers, behind the scenes. Remember that your performers or entertainers or speakers are the prime influencers, so give them collaterals they can share on social networks. Tactic #3 - Gamify Promotions Get people talking about your event online. You can use tools such as event apps or special discount codes to create a community before the event. Gamification such as competitions and scavenger hunts can be effective. Offer prizes: A special sit down with a celebrity A special access to a closed area of your event 20% off the ticket or a free ticket Tactic #4 - Be Present All Year Round If you wake up two months before the event, it’s not going to work, you will not get the exposure. Social networks now have algorithms that assign visibility based on your activity and performance of updates. If you want to give it the best shot, you need to be engaged and present all year long. Tactic #5 - Quality Not Quantity Back in the day, there was one golden rule about the use of social media to promote events: the more updates and content the merrier. Nowadays, attention has shifted from quantity to quality. The only exception is for stories. Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat give you more prominence if you create more stories. The same is not true for regular updates though. Curating fewer updates but providing the highest quality content. It’s really about curating that one daily or weekly update that is going to give you the maximum exposure. Algorithms will favor you if you focus on fewer updates but of higher quality. Tactic #6 - Combine Social Ads Combine Social ads for maximum effectiveness There is no chance anyone will see your updates on social networks such as Facebook if you don’t combine your strategy with a strong ad budget. The same goes for Youtube. You should allocate some budget to seed your content, especially at the beginning. Organic opportunities will kick in later but always allocate a budget that can range anywhere between $10 and $1,000 dollars per update if you really want to increase the visibility of your updates. Here are 5 of the most advanced tactics successful eventprofs are rolling out to make their events sell out Tactic #1 - Video 65% use video as a key part of their marketing strategy. To master video for your event: Make sure to collect plenty of footage, testimonials and recorded sessions from your event Use video strategically on social media ads. It performs better than words. Use live video in the lead up to the event to get FOMO Tactic #2 - Facebook 52% of event professionals say FB is their favorite channel for event marketing. Your audience will inevitably be on Facebook and as much as we like to think that we use Facebook for personal reasons, it has become also an arena to follow our passions and professional aspirations. Tactic #4 - Scarcity In a world with so many events happening around us and the economy booming, how do we capture the attention of our attendees? Closing the doors is an effective strategy for some events to secure attendance and create a level of exclusivity. We see an unprecedented number of events asking people to apply, invitation-only events or a referral code system. How to master scarcity: Make your event invitation-only or by application. Look for a very targeted audience that would please your sponsors or that are keen to spend more. These are your primary targets, who you want in the room. Create higher pricing options. Usually, we discount to get more people through the door. Do the opposite to create disparity in your pricing and VIP areas. Keep aspects of the event secret. Secrecy goes hand in hand with scarcity. Keeping elements of the event available only to some attendees will raise curiosity and stimulate more registrations. Tactic #5 - Event Experience 60% of event planners say that the demand for experiences is increasing. How can you elevate your event to a 360-degree experience? Introduce elements of adventure. Are you engaging attendees to the next level, are you getting them to participate in special activities, tours, scavenger hunts, city activities. The ‘bleisure’ trend is pushing this kind of need in events around the world. Craft social programmes. Connect attendees with each other. Think creatively. Think how you deliver on the needs of your attendees. Design your event around your core objective to increase the experience levels.
