Biggest Palladium Deposits Found In Philippines

02:15
Read full story: http://www.okd2.com/biggest-palladium-deposits-discovered-off-coasts-romblon-negros-panay-islands/ Philippines could be one of the richest countries in Asia, following the discovery of the world’s biggest Palladium reserve off the coasts of Negros, Panay, Mindoro, and Romblon Islands, south of Luzon. NASA, together with USGS, (United States Geological Survey), released a 3-year study report detailing the 8,450 square kilometer palladium deposits lying below the seas of Visayan, Sibuyan, and Tablas Strait. Current biggest producer of Palladium is Russia with 44%, followed by Africa with 40%, and the rest are from Canada and US. If the Philippine government allows foreign investors to dig and mine the palladium deposits, the country can expect around $9.8B a year in net profit, report said. Environmental Conservation and Natural Resources - YES

01:09
Environmental conservation and natural resources depend on protecting our planet. http://YourEarthSafe.com Sometimes the best thing you can do is nothing at all! At YES that's exactly what we do: we protect parcels of virgin wilderness by purchasing them on the free market and placing them in an independently managed international land trust safe from human exploitation. YES is a tool that allows you to become the beneficiary of virgin wilderness (generically referred to as "Land Unit") to help preserve them in their natural state thus allowing you to collaborate in the conservation of the planet. However small it might be, all contributions to environmental protection are always helpful. By joining YES you as an individual are contributing in a very real way to maintaining the global ecosystem, protecting the globall community and letting nature take its course.

Market Empire: The U.S., the Philippines & Natural Resource Management

44:37
The importation of tropical products from the Caribbean and the Pacific accompanied the growth of American industrial development in the early twentieth century. While the new demand for tropical fruits, woods, and products dramatically altered tropical ecosystems and contributed to food shortages in what is today called the "global south," it also encouraged the development of an ethic of natural resource management and conservation. By focusing on the work of American agricultural scientists, foresters, and chemists during the U.S. occupation of the Philippines (1898-1936), Theresa Ventura shows how science was integral to the emergence of the United States as a world power; the influence of Philippine knowledge on environmental and nutritional knowledge; and the often devastating impact of conservation and land management programs on indigenous communities. Speaker Biography: Theresa Ventura is an assistant professor of history at Concordia University in Montreal. The Philippine Clearing House Mechanism is a website that provides relevant information on the Convention on Biological Diversity in the country. It is established as part of the Philippine commitment to the CBD to promote and facilitate technical and scientific cooperation among the various stakeholders on biodiversity in the country. It contains national biodiversity-related information that is required to assist policy makers and interested stakeholders to meet obligations under the Convention and to conserve and sustainably use biodiversity. It also aims to facilitate the sharing of data and information between and among various stakeholders on biodiversity in the Philippines. Thus, regular inflow of information from partners and stakeholders is necessary to maintain the content of the PCHM. It operates through an information technology-based network called the BIOWEB.PH established through a Memorandum of Agreement among different biodiversity partners. Sharing of information is done through a web-based information system. To read more, click: http://www.chm.ph/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=399&Itemid=53

CLEANEST Cities in the Philippines

05:10
Probably, one of the best gifts of humanity is our concern for environment and society. The Philippines, despite of too much corruption in government agencies, the mediocracy of people about natural resources, public health and sanitation, transportation and urban and environmental planning, sustainable energy resources (most especially the use of coal), and cultural preservation. There are cities where the local governments, NGOs and the citizens are very cooperative in maintaining their environment clean, not just to encourage tourists to experience their places but also for their own betterment. Technology For Property Rights: Improving Land Titling in the Philippines

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to work with The Asian Foundation, Foundation for Economic Freedom, Omidyar Network, Land Management Bureau, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, SkyEye, and Micro Aerial Projects to shoot and edit a couple of videos regarding the property rights situation in Philippines, and the use of new technologies to help expedite the processes. "The Technology for Property Rights Project is a project of the Foundation for Economic Freedom and The Asia Foundation, supported by the Omidyar Network. The project aims to further scale titling and increase the security of property rights under the Residential Free Patent Act or RA10023 through the use of new approaches and technologies. The project has the three following component activities: 1) training private sector professionals to assist public land applicants; 2) creating an online adjudication application; and 3) using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)-generated Image-Maps to enhance phases in systematic adjudication." Natural wealth revenues for a green, inclusive economy in the Philippines

07:42
As of 2009, despite the country's last decade positive economic growth, 26.5% of its population or 25 million Filipinos were still living under the poverty line. 75% of those were living in rural or mar- ginalized areas. They depend disproportionately on natural resources and are thus more vulnerable to environmental degradation. Mining industries and renewable energy generation represent a clear link between poverty and environment. Although nat- ural resources have been identified nationally as an important growth driver and the country is 5th most mineral-rich in the world, this sector has yet to con- tribute significantly to economic growth and human development.

Three Largest Island Groups of Philippines

01:12
The Philippines' location on the Pacific Ring of Fire and close to the equator makes the Philippines prone to earthquakes and typhoons, but also endows it with abundant natural resources and some of the world's greatest biodiversity. The Philippines has an area of 343,448 square kilometers (132,606 sq mi)and, as of 2015, had a population of at least 100 million. As of January 2018, it was the eighth-most populated country in Asia and the 12th most populated country in the world. Approximately 10 million additional Filipinos lived overseas, comprising one of the world's largest diasporas. Multiple ethnicities and cultures are found throughout the islands. In prehistoric times, Negritos were some of the archipelago's earliest inhabitants. They were followed by successive waves of Austronesian peoples.Exchanges with Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Islamic nations occurred. Then, various competing maritime states were established under the rule of Datus, Rajahs, Sultans or Lakans.
