Brexit Aftermath: What Happens Next?

09:40
With Brexit, the UK recently voted to leave the EU. Some are now saying that the vote wasn’t legally binding, and parliament may decide not to implement the Brexit. What will probably happen? Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. "After Britain's historic vote to leave the European Union, there is no indication that a so-called Brexit will happen soon. It maybe never will. Prime Minister David Cameron, who is resigning, has said he will not take the formal step to an EU divorce on the grounds that his successor should. Because the referendum is not legally-binding, some politicians are suggesting a parliament vote before formally triggering Brexit. A petition on the UK government's website on holding a second referendum has gained more than 3 million signatories in just two days. European leaders, facing the biggest threat to European unity since World War Two, are divided over how swiftly divorce talks should start. Paris wants haste and German Chancellor Angela Merkel is urging patience. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said he wanted to "start immediately". And on Sunday, Scotland's leader said Scotland may veto Brexit altogether. Under devolution rules, the parliaments of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales are required to consent to any EU divorce, according to a report by the House of Lords. Most British politicians agree such a decisive 52-48 win for Leave in the referendum means a divorce must happen. Anything less would be a slap in the face of democracy.”* Read more here: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-britain-eu-brexit-insight-idUSKCN0ZC103 Hosts: Cenk Uygur Cast: Cenk Uygur *** The Largest Online News Show in the World. 'May Day' for Brexit: Possible scenarios of what happens next

04:19
British Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit divorce deal may not be, as one opposition lawmaker called it, "as dead as the deadest dodo," but it is definitely ailing. It looks very likely that Britain's Parliament will reject the agreement in a vote scheduled for Tuesday. If that happens, May has until the start of next week to come back to Parliament with a Plan B and Britain has just 10 weeks until it is due to leave the bloc, with or without a deal, on March 29. Here's a look at what might happen if lawmakers vote down the deal. ►Subscribe to The Economic Times for latest video updates. Why Brexit happened -- and what to do next | Alexander Betts

What is a 'no deal' Brexit? And what does it mean for the UK and Europe?

03:30
Tuesday, January 15 - essentially spells D-day for British Prime Minister Theresa May as MPs take their seats in the House of Commons to deliver their verdict on her government's Brexit deal. After days of debate, they will vote on both the withdrawal agreement, a legally-binding, nearly 600 page document that sets out how the UK leaves the European Union, and the future political framework — a set of ambitions for a European Union (EU)-UK trade deal. Adding pressure to the mix, it follows a week of Brexit defeats for May after MPs voted last Wednesday in favour of a limited period to present next steps on Brexit if the current deal is rebuffed. Had the vote on May's deal taken place when it was originally planned back in December, the government would have 21 days to return to the Commons to set out what it plans to do next, in the event of a deal rejection. But now, May would be given just three days to present a Brexit plan B. What are the possible outcomes of the vote? Find out here: bit.ly/2VTseP7 What are the top stories today? BREXIT: What Happens Next?

09:13
What happens next in the Brexit process? With Theresa Mays plan looking unlikely to get through parliament I take a look at the potential alternatives to the plan including a no deal, a second referendum, a general election, a change in leader and extending article 50. It's difficult to see how the uk parliament will support mays deal or no deal therefore the only other option they may support is remaining in the customs union and single market. But this would mean we wouldn't be able to control free movement of people.

What happens now in the Brexit negotiations? | ITV News

02:50
For Theresa May's Brexiteer backbenchers, nothing less than the scrapping of the Irish backstop will do. But Jeremy Corbyn's five point plan is in danger of splitting his party too. While it contains plans for the UK to stay in a customs union, there is no hint of a second referendum and that could trigger resignations. Jeremy Corbyn's plan for a softer Brexit, committing the UK to a customs union, may yet provide a way forward. But it does not include any hint of a second referendum. Already plenty of remainer Labour MPs are angry about that. For her part Mrs May is still a long way off convincing her Brexiter backbenchers, who will only be happy when the Irish backstop is scrapped. • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on Twitter: https://twitter.com/itvnews Follow ITV News on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itvnews/

You can view my blog here: https://imincorrigible.wordpress.com/ My other YouTube channels search for: "Still Incorrigible" & "Incorrigible Forever" Original notice: As a result of receiving a "copyright strike" this channel will be going on hiatus shortly. If a channel receives three such strikes it is automatically deleted by YouTube. The primary purpose of my YouTube channels is the preservation of a record of historical events as reported at the time and the receipt of a copyright strike imperils that goal. Brexit: What happens next for Theresa May and the UK?

01:42
Theresa May (pictured right) has vowed to ‘make the case for this deal with all my heart’ to persuade restless MPs to back her. More than 90 Tory MPs have indicated they will not back the deal and the Democratic Unionist Party is withholding support. On Sunday the withdrawal agreement was formally signed by EU leaders at a summit in Brussels and EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier was kissed by European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker (pictured left). A Commons vote on the deal will be held shortly, most likely on December 12 and there are reports that Mrs May’s team are setting up a ‘war room’ to win the votes they need. BREXIT LATEST: What happened today - and what happens next as Brexit D-Day looms?

BREXIT LATEST: What happened today - and what happens next as Brexit D-Day looms? Prime Minister Theresa May suffered yet another humiliating defeat in the House of Commons today as a vote on her approach to Brexit was voted down by 303 to 258 - a majority of 45. The Prime Minister's main motion asked Parliament to support her in going back to the EU to seek renegotiations on the backstop but was ridiculed by MPs. The backstop is, simply put, an insurance policy designed to avoid a hard border on the island of Ireland if Britain and the EU cannot agree on a free trade deal in time. Key Conservative Brexiteers abstained from the vote, saying the Government's motion implied a no-deal Brexit would be ruled out. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has now called on Mrs May to "admit her Brexit strategy has failed".The Prime Minister was not present in the House of Commons to hear the result read out. But Downing Street later hit back at the Labour leader and blamed him for the defeat. READ MORE: BREXIT LIVE: Theresa May suffers HUMILIATING defeat in Commons - Brexiteers REVOLTB... U.K. votes for 'Brexit': What happens next

The British public voted to leave the European Union in a historic referendum Thursday. The departure is dubbed "Brexit" — Britain’s exit from the 28-member bloc. Here's what we know: Morning! U.K. votes for ‘Brexit’ The margin of victory for "Brexit" in the referendum was 52% to 48%, according to a final tally announced early Friday. "Leave" supporters argued that severing ties with the EU is the only way to reduce high levels of immigration and ensure the U.K.'s sovereignty over EU regulations. The “remain” camp said jobs, the economy, national security and the U.K.'s standing on the world stage would be compromised outside the bloc. Be Smarter. Faster.
