Recently, I've been seeing a lot of people talking about willpower and how it is a limited resource. Many people believe they could improve their lives if only they had more of that mysterious thing called willpower. With more self-control we would all eat right, exercise regularly, avoid drugs and alcohol, save for retirement, stop procrastinating, and achieve all sorts of noble goals. Yet a growing body of research shows that resisting repeated temptations takes a mental toll. Some experts liken willpower to a muscle that can get fatigued from overuse. So... Stephen Hawking’s 7 Predictions of Earth’s Demise in the Next 200 Years

11:01
What will happen to our planet in the next 200 years? The most famous scientist since Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, who has made profound and inspiring discoveries, predicted an extremely dark and pessimistic future to the Earth and its inhabitants. Here are some of Hawking’s most terrifying predictions on how and when our world will meet its demise. Since scientists started toying with genetically engineered viruses to treat human illnesses, they’ve also discovered other possible uses for them. Nowadays, pharmacists are even combining several deadly viruses into a single shot and doing some weird stuff with DNA mixing. Hawking was a firm believer in extraterrestrial life, and he was convinced that they will eventually invade our planet. And no, unfortunately, they probably won’t come in peace. In his final work, A Smooth Exit from Eternal Inflation, completed just two weeks before he died, Hawking predicted that our universe will eventually fade into darkness as all the stars run out of energy. Although Hawking's life basically depended on artificial intelligence, he didn't trust it at all. He once said that it might just be “the worst invention in the history of our civilization” because it’ll probably replace humans altogether. Hawking added that global warming will make the conditions on Earth similar to those on Venus. To save ourselves from problems like overpopulation (and the scarcity of resources that comes with it), pandemics, and pollution, we have to discover new worlds and become a multi-planetary species. Music: Diamond Ortiz - Crock Pot Gonna Onyekwe - Destination Unknown Doug Maxwell/Media Right Productions - Hipsters Hopping Doug Maxwell - Light Years Away William Rosati - Rounds Francis Preve- Stranger Danger https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS Genetically modified vaccines will backfire on us. 1:04 Aliens will invade our planet. 2:36 The Universe will come to an end. 3:52 Robots will replace humans. 4:21 Nuclear weapons will destroy humanity. 5:32 We'll need to find another planet to live on. 6:03 The Earth will combust into a ball of fire. 9:17 SUMMARY -We still don't fully understand the long-term damage genetically engineered vaccine concoctions might have. -Chances are that cosmic beings will find our floating rock in space and they’ll most likely want to either destroy us or study us like lab rats. -Hawking predicted that our universe will eventually fade into darkness as all the stars run out of energy. -The scientist believed that artificial intelligence could eventually outsmart and outperform humans or, worse, decide to get rid of us. -The development of militarized technology and weapons of mass destruction could lead us to disastrous consequences, which would mean the end of our world. -According to Hawking, we have to find another planet to live on within the next 100 years. Otherwise, we’ll die out as a species because Earth has already reached “the point of no return”. -Global warming will make the conditions on Earth similar to those on Venus. The average temperature will be about 480°F. Our planet will burst into flames in less than 600 years. 00:22
http://www.thepostureguy.com So it turns out that simply willing yourself to do or not do something is easier said than done? That's because study after study has shown that willpower is a limited resource. One that relies heavily on proper breathing, hydration, sleep, nutrition, movement, and exercise to reinforce it. So what are you doing to support your willpower? — — — — —  If you enjoy and have learned a lot from this content, but still feel you need more of a customized approach to help with your particular pain, posture, and/or performance issues that you’re currently struggling with, then message me on Facebook at m.me/justinvarcher to find out how we can work together to reach your goals as quickly and efficiently as possible. How Belief In Our Limited Supply Affects Our Willpower

WELCOME! 😃 SUBSCRIBE ► http://bit.ly/2fu2wQF | ★ PREVIOUS VIDEOS ► http://bit.ly/2vHZRJk | ★ PLAYLISTS ► http://bit.ly/2ihjMJZ ********************************** How Belief In Our Limited Supply Affects Our Willpower Americans believe they have less stamina for strenuous mental activity than their European counterparts -- an indication that people in the U.S. perceive their willpower or self-control as being in limited supply, a new study suggests. It's know that imagining an outcome before acting upon an impulse may help increase patience without relying on increased willpower. More than 1,100 Americans and 1,600 Europeans -- including 775 Swiss and 871 German-speaking adults -- participated in the study, which tested the validity of a widely used psychological assessment tool called the Implicit Theory of Willpower for Strenuous Mental Activities Scale. People taking the assessment are asked to rate their level of agreement with statements such as, "After a strenuous mental activity, your energy is depleted, and you must rest to get it refueled again." Americans in the study were more likely to indicate that they needed breaks to rest and recover after performing mentally taxing activities, while their European counterparts reported feeling more invigorated and ready to jump into the next challenging task immediately. "What matters most is what we think about our willpower," said the study’s lead author, University of Illinois educational psychology professor Christopher Napolitano. "When we view our willpower as limited, it’s similar to a muscle that gets tired and needs rest. If we believe it is a finite resource, we act that way, feeling exhausted and needing breaks between demanding mental tasks, while people who view their willpower as a limitless resource get energized instead." Napolitano and co-author Veronika Job of the University of Zurich sought to test whether the ITW-M measured the concept of willpower consistently across sexes and different cultures. Participants’ scores on the ITW-M questionnaire were compared with their scores on similar assessments that explored their beliefs about intelligence, life satisfaction and trait self-control, which relates to their ability to rein in their impulses... ********************************** ★ SUBSCRIBE TO MY CHANNEL TO BE INFORMED FOR NEW DAILY VIDEOS! Time to Prepare for an Extended Power Outage

14:01
The President’s National Infrastructure Advisory Council (NIAC), released a report entitled Surviving a Catastrophic Power Outage, How to Strengthen the Capabilities of the Nation. The United States Air Force also released a report from the Electromagnetic Defense Task Force (EDTF). These reports demonstrate an urgent need to prepare to live without power for an extended time period. Our government and military both recognize that the power grid is a prime target for attack by nation states and explains: “There needs to be more individual accountability for preparedness”. While they work to improve the resiliency of the infrastructure, we need to do our part and increase the ability of our individual households to live without electricity for an extended period of time. The introduction to the NIAC report states: "Introduction: What the Nation Faces "Across the nation, we experience major threats nearly every year: hurricanes, wildfires, flooding, droughts, and other serious disasters. For these events, the nation has well-established response processes where the federal government serves as a backstop for the robust efforts of individuals, businesses, communities, and states. Even as severe weather increases, the nation has steadily improved its ability to respond to growing disasters and resulting outages—improving planning and coordination, hardening infrastructure, and building strong mutual aid agreements." "The risk posed by a catastrophic power outage, however, is not simply a bigger, stronger storm. It is something that could paralyze entire regions, with grave implications for the nation’s economic and social well-being. …" "… imagining an outage that stretches beyond days and weeks to months or years, and affects large swaths of the country. Unlike severe weather disasters, a catastrophic power outage may occur with little or no notice and result from myriad types of scenarios: for example, a sophisticated cyber-physical attack resulting in severe physical infrastructure damage; attacks timed to follow and exacerbate a major natural disaster; a large-scale wildfire, earthquake, or geomagnetic event; or a series of attacks or events over a short period of time that compound to create significant physical damage to our nation’s infrastructure. An event of this severity may also be an act of war, requiring a simultaneous military response that further draws upon limited resources." How do I prepare to survive an extended power outage that lasts for 6 months to a year? In this video, we will teach you how to build the physical resources you need including: water and food storage, alternative energy methods for cooking, lighting and heating, sanitation, medical supplies, communications and physical protection. The Radio-frequency Resource

00:45
The physical resource used to communicate with devices is the radiofrequency resource which is part of the electromagnetic spectrum. This limited resource must be used as efficiently as possible. This is a typical two-dimensional view provided by a spectrum analyser. The X axis represents the frequency on the Y axis, the power. Now you can see ( a three-dimensional view of the spectrum on a Sigfox base station: X and Y are still the same but time is added vertically and downward. This is the typical waterfall view that you can see in the Sigfox Cloud.

How to Tap Your Untapped Potential: Limited Willpower Hacks

04:23
Visit http://DrKenChristian.com/BreakThrough to learn how to Breakthrough Your Achievement Barriers to finally Have It All. How to Tap Your Untapped Potential: Limited Willpower Hacks I’m going to tell you how to get around the fact that you, in reality, are only capable of exercising so much willpower at any one time. We have to learn to live with our limits, and research shows, from social psychology, it’s very, very, extremely clear research, it shows that we cannot take on more than three projects of any sizable importance at any one time, and if we attempt to do three really monstrous things, we’re going to tax our actual ability to do so when it comes to our willpower. We have a finite amount of willpower, and so you have to learn to use it like any other energy source capably, and you know, with a kind of sensible approach to what you can really get done. Now, I know that’s hard for you if you’re ambitious, and if you’re creative, and if you have a lot of ideas and a lot of projects you have to follow, and you want to follow them, but guess what. That’s one of the reasons you’re crashing into barriers instead of actually tapping your untapped potential. You’re greedy, in a way, about how much you want to do at any one time. If you’re greedy, raise your hand. Mine’s up. I’m greedy. It’s really hard for me to slow down and stop and say, here’s one thing I really need to focus on, but I’m very well aware of running into my own limits of willpower. Then, the bad thing that can happen is you can attack yourself. Not only do you not capably finish what you’re doing and you abandon something and now you start something new because it looks fun, and the fun parts going, and you’re not in that grinding, scut work part where you’ve got to stay with that. It’s because you get interested in the fun part again. I understand that, but you can learn to work around this. You can hack this problem of limited willpower by sequencing what you do and only scheduling one major thing to pursue and doing it well. So don’t have three major projects. That’s the limit, but why tax the limit? Do one thing really, really well, and put it to bed and make sure it becomes silently a part of your life before you try to tackle another thing at the same time. I hope you really get how important this can be. Try it out. You’re going to find out that you can learn to handle one thing really well instead of going off, trying to do a number of things at the same time. Now, the research shows you can do three things at the same time. Be very careful about what those three things are, and make sure you give space between them in a day. I’d say do one, and do it well. That’s the best way I can give you. It’s the best way to hack it. Nuclear Reactor - Understanding how it works | Physics Elearnin

04:51
Nuclear Reactor - Understanding how it works | Physics Elearnin video Nuclear reactors are the modern day devices extensively used for power generation as the traditional fossil fuels, like coal, are at the breach of extinction. A nuclear reactor is the source of intense heat which is in turn used for generation of power in nuclear power station. Its mechanism is similar to that of a furnace in a steam generator; the steam is used to drive the turbines of the electric generator system. A nuclear reactor consists of three crucial components: Fuel elements, moderator and control rods. Fuel elements come usually in the shape of thin rods of about 1cm in diameter and contain fissionable nuclei, like Uranium (235 92U or 238 92U). These rods vary in number according to the size of the reactor, in large power reactor thousands of fuel elements are placed close to each other. This region where these fuel elements are placed is called the reactor core. These fuel elements are normally immersed in water which acts as a moderator. The objective of a moderator is to slow down the energy neutrons in a nuclear reactor which are produced during the nuclear fission process by the fuel elements. Thermal neutrons, which are neutrons with energy of about 0.04 electron volts, are capable of producing fission reaction with 235 92U. During the fission reaction process, new neutrons are given out which have energies of about 1 MeV. These neutrons of typically escape from participating in another fission process as they are accompanied by enormous energy release. In f -ct, the probability of these neutrons produce another fission reaction is 500 times less than as compared to that of a thermal neutron. This is where moderator is extremely useful. Moderator has the capability to slow down, or in other words moderate, the speed of these high-energy neutrons, so that they can in turn be used for a chain reaction to trigger multiple fission reactions of other 235 92U nucleus. Commonly, ordinary or heavy water is used as moderator in nuclear reactors because of the deuterons present in them which are capable of slowing the neutron speed. Water molecules in the moderator are useful in slowing down the high-energy neutrons which leave the fuel-element after nuclear fission. These high-energy neutrons collide with water molecules thereby losing out on some energy with every collision and therefore slow down substantially. A new fission reaction can now be triggered using this slow neutron by striking it with the fuel element. The third and of the most prominent part of a nuclear reactor are the control rods. In order to get a steady output of energy from the nuclear reactor, every single nuclear fission reaction should trigger another fission reaction and ensure the availability of a spare neutron released to trigger the chain reaction. By controlling the number of spare neutrons available at any given time, the rate of the nuclear fission chain reaction can be controlled. This control on the fission reaction can be maintained using the control rods. The main function of the control rods is to absorb any excess or spare neutron in the moderator in order to prevent any further fission reaction. Usually such control rods are made of Boron or Cadmium. To increase the rate of fission reactions, these rods can be removed from the moderator. A steady output of energy can be thus maintained by inserting or removing the control rods in the nuclear reactor. Now that we know the components of a nuclear reactor, let us understand the working of a nuclear reactor. It is usually enclosed in a shield made of thick concrete walls. It consists of a reactor core, pump and heat exchanger. The reactor core and pump are in placed in contact with the water, which is usually the heat exchanger used in reactors. Due to the enormous amount of heat released dusing nuclear fission reaction, this surrounding water gets heated up and changes to steam, which is in turn used to turn the turbines. Thus huge heat energy gets converted into electrical energy. Water is continuously flown in and out of the nuclear reactor using the pump. Thus a nuclear reactor successfully generates nuclear energy from fission reaction.

Ladakh's Remotest Village Now Runs Entirely On Its Own Solar Power Grid

12:32
The remote Himalayan villages are struggling with basic amenities even in the 21st century. They live in the dark with limited resources, medical support and education. The potential of thousands of children remains untapped. NDTV, in association with Global Himalayan Expedition (GHE), will power up Shade, which is around 420 km from Leh and is the remotest village of Zanskar, Ladakh. To achieve this herculean task, the team drove for 300 km on the Leh-Manali (NH3) highway to reach Sarchu, a serene campsite at the cusp of Jammu & Kashmir and Himanchal Pradesh. The last leg of the drive ended at the bottom of Shinkula pass. The team then trekked from Shinkula to Phugtal village, the ancient monastery of the Zanskar, and then to Shade. Solar micro-grids that produce green energy were installed to light up the village. UK Investor Update - March 21st 2019

01:30
Base Resources Limited (LON:BSE) says a feasibility study for its Toliara project has confirmed it is a world class mineral sands project. The net present value was estimated at US$671mln in the study. Kibo Energy PLC's (LON:KIBO) key study for the Benga thermal power plant in Mozambique has been completed ahead of schedule and is now in the final review stage. Coal and power purchase agreement discussions are also at an advanced stage. Next PLC's (LON:NXT) online revenues are set to overtake its high street stores this year. Annual profits fell slightly as store sales tumbled by 8% but online revenues grew by almost 15%. The retailer's predicted earnings per share will rise 3.6% in the coming year. Ted Baker PLC (LON:TED) expects the investigation into allegations of misconduct against chief executive Ray Kelvin to conclude next month. The fashion chain saw profits fall by 26% last year, which it blamed on discounting, problems with partners and unseasonable weather. Housebuilder Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) is to set aside an average £3,600 on each house it builds as a deposit against any faults that might arise after construction. The money, which is equal to about 1.5% of the total home value and 6% of build cost, will be lodged with the buyer’s solicitor.
The Problem of Power in Space. NASA's New Kilopower Reactor

13:15
Space is the worst. It’s got hostile radiation, a total lack of atmosphere, near absolute zero temperatures, problematic gravity wells, and worse. In order to keep your spacecraft alive in that environment, you need electricity to keep it warm. Not to mention all the power to run scientific instruments and the transmitters to send that data home. Getting enough power in space is a big problem. HMR Program: More Is Better!

00:46
HMR wants you to think differently about dieting. HMR foods, fruits, and vegetables are so low in calories, you can eat more and still lose weight. We call it “More is Better®.” Eating more instead of eating less may be a different approach to weight loss than you have tried in the past. Instead of limiting how much you can eat during the day, we want you to always have food you can say “yes” to. When you are feeling hungry or deprived, you are depending on willpower to stay on the diet. Willpower is a limited resource, and if you don’t find something to eat that is part of your diet, then you will eventually find something that isn’t. Eating off the diet will slow down and limit your overall weight loss. The power of collaboration: Dr. Shelle VanEtten de Sánchez at TEDxABQWomen

06:30
Over the past 12 years as the Director of Education at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, Dr. Shelle VanEttten de Sánchez learned indispensible lessons about the power of collaboration in situations of limited fiscal resources, staffing, and time. Collaboration, although rarely the easiest way to accomplish a goal, can turn a small idea into something that far surpasses its original potential. Now the Director of Strategic Initiatives for the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, Dr. VanEtten de Sánchez continues to support the arts and cultural education with special attention to collaborative programs, community connections, youth programs and celebrating the power of individual creativity. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
